Clunking, rattling noise after engine shut-off
I have been experiencing a few issues with my new 2012 ISF. Hopefully you guys can help me out in saying whether you experience this or not.
EVERY time i turn off my engine, i here this same clanking, rattling noise coming from my new car... It is rather unpleasant to hear and I'm starting to wonder whether anyone else experiences this, or if it's something all ISF's do. I'm about to take my car in to my dealership and wanted to know whether this was an issue or not. I have posted a few very short Youtube clips so everyone can hear the noise I am hearing everytime i turn off my car. Thank you.

I had the EXACT same "ka-clunk" from the flap coming from the air intake box on the 2008 ISF when turning off the engine.
My original thread here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ff-engine.html
In conclusion:
- Dealers stated it was normal, they will not replace it even if under warranty.
- The "foam" lining where the flap rests against in a closed position was really thin or just plain missing in some sections.
- I bought the entire intake box assembly from Sewell for ~$550 if I remember clearly.
- It still made the noise but more of a soft clunk than a "plastic on plastic" slap.

no it's not the steering wheel, and honestly even though other have said the intake flap, i don't think it's that either. It sounds like it might be coming from the rear of the car, if that makes any sense.

I had not heard this before. If it sounds like it's coming from the rear, can you have someone else be in the car to turn it off while you lay near the rear wheels? Perhaps it's just the exhaust vibrating and then getting a final aggressive flow of air that is causing it to hit something? I've had heat shields warp on other cars before and cause some noises. Probably not it...but at least an idea.

Same Rattle!
Thank goodness I found this post. I was extremely worried! I have had my IS-F a year and a half, had it in for the 10k service just 1 week ago. For the first time today I heard the same exact rattle when turning off my car. I ALWAYS listen to things and baby this car, all maintenance and this is the 1st time that it has done it. And they said this is NORMAL?? This can't be. I am taking it in tomorrow regardless because I really don't think a $70k car should do this. The sound is awful. I'm such a girl. Can someone tell me the outcome of what the dealer stated and why it does this? HELP! Thanks.

Have noticed this noise in my car since I bought the car. If its the intake flap will replacing the intake with an aftermarket unit ( Takeda or K&N ) remedy this issue
