I switched over to all-season tires (Conti DWS)... and have since been trying to sell the 2 front tires that came with the car (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 225-40-19): https://www.clublexus.com/forums/whe...res-200-a.html

There has been interest but people are lowballing me, so I am planning to use them as track tires. There are a few things I can do:

1) Purchase used rear tires (potenza re050a, preferably wider in the rear, 275-35-19), and purchase cheap lightweight rims

2) Do the same as above but have the OEM rims mounted on the track tires

3) If tires sell, purchase a used wheel/tire combo.

What is the cheapest and smartest route? Reason being I'd rather not purchase a new set of rims/tires if I'm gonna beat on them at the track anyway. What do the track heads suggest?

1) Best route as you can buy lighter and wider rims. You can put more meat on the group and feel the the weight savings
2) Smartest route as all you need to purchase are tires. You can still have lots of fun with the stock rims

For track use buy cheap wheels all in the same size and mount the same size tires on all four corners. This will clear up the understeer problem, and allow for easier tire purchasing and tire rotation.

Just get rid of the old fronts, there is no market for used tires unless you are living in Mexico. Don't be hung up about getting the best price for them. You need to shake this mentality if you are planning to get into tracking as there are no two ways about it, tracking is expensive. You gotta pay to play.

My primary use is for quarter mile runs. How I see it, I already have used tires with quite a bit of tread, so why not just purchase the rears and mount the stock rims as needed, as others have stated.

Oh, completely different. You didn't say drag racing was your intended use. Just use the stockers on the front with whatever cheap wheel you can find and then some MT's on the rear. Done.

If I get my stock rims mounted on the track tires, my only concern is curb rash on the wheels when I get them mounted. Am I hallucinating or does mounting the tires cause curb rash & wheel scratches??
