I agree with lobuxracer.
Just because the tire size is the same doesn't mean there is not a variation from one manufacturer to another. You had a recommendation for Hoosier or Kuhmo. The fact that you went with Toyos unfortunatly makes it inaccurate to say you followed the recommended setup.
I have Michelin PSS in 305/30/19 fitted in the rear of my car. Figs who pioneered this setup has posted his first hand experience with the fittments variations for my tire size from manufacturer to manufacturer .
It a comment misconception that every tire regardless of brand is exactly the same in a given size. The only time users become aware of this is when they fit something that is max out in terms of fittment.

Always, always do the calculations yourself. Find the manufacturer specs, run the offsets, do the plus size calculations. Nowadays all this information is online. Back in the day, when the net was in its infancy there was a lot of guess work regarding plus sizing/tire width/etc. But rarely do I take recommendations at face value without doing my own due diligence.

At first I thought it might be ok since there's around 2 mm space between the tire and suspensions but I was scared when I heard the noise.
I'm so tempted to put the wheels on and try it again.

Is it possible I'm doing something wrong with the installation?

I used hub rings as suggested by the seller Shown in pic.

I managed to get through to GoodYear and they confirmed to me what you and RCB said.
Here is their reply:

285 is section width so mid sidewall to mid sidewall measurement .... not a tread width

Overall diameter is around 628 mm but as mentioned varies from tread pattern to tread pattern and manufacturer to manufacturer.

Now that the weather is getting better in Dubai. The track season is about to start. While summer is the track season for most of you, in this part of the world it's simply tooooooo hot in the summer!

I need to go back and try to use the "wrong" Toyo tires I bought. At this point of time, the only solution I see is to run spacers. Since I'm newbie I need your help guys with this.
1- Can I run spacers only in the front? The rear tires are fine.
2- Would 5 mm be sufficient ?
3- Do I need to get longer lug nuts ?

If you are going to track your car and run spacers, definately get longer studs. Technically you nee to get a minimum of 6 turns on your lugs nuts, but I wouldn't even trust that if your going to be tracking your car. Also, did you take those pics with your car on the ground? If not, you may gain some more clearance once you get the car on the ground.

Couldn't agree with you more. My other car is 1995 Audi RS2 with stock 245/40 ZR17 dunlops. It is well documented that the tires are in fact similar to 225/45 17 in size.
I am not saying all Dunlops are off, but the particular tire specifically made for RS2 was a weirdo.

The Toyos are fine for both street and track driving no rubbing at all! I guess I was just been paranoid since there was barley any space between the suspensions and front tires and they are very noisy! I though they were rubbing, but now. They are GREAT

Why would you waste all that money for 4x285 on a rear wheel drive car? And I have 295 on a 9.5in rim and its just fine. 235 in the front on 8.5
