Default Need opinion curb rash

Hi everyone, so after a year of caution I got my first curb rash. It's not too bad and is on the rim lip. I got a quote from the dealer and intend to get it fixed depending on the opinions I get here. My only concern is that the dealer says they will have to refinish or paint the wheel. Has anyone had any experience with this as far as how the paint would hold up long term.. he is giving a lifetime warranty. Thanks!

How much is he charging? You might want to get those new set of rims all around that look better anyways.

Ask your local body shop or look up for a mobile wheel repair guy. They don't even need to remove the wheel and 15-20 minutes later, you can't even tell. It should run around $50-75 for a typical 3-inch rash.

I had the clearcoat on my wheels replaced due to the fact that there was a problem with the finish in '08. It has held up superbly and I have no complaints.

I had similar curb rash. I took it to my Lexus dealer and it was refinished. $150 is about right. The good news is after the refinish the wheel looked brand new, I couldn't even tell where the curb rash was.

$150 seems like a good price.

Ive had my OEM rims refinished and the going rate up here is 150.00 per rim. That involved taking the rim off, sanding the rash down and then recoating the entire rim. They looked flawless after...No way I'm paying some guy 50-75 bucks to do a 15 minute "touch up" job.
