I haven't done that for the last three changes. It made no difference in the analysis.

Wow, so the oem oil filter is good for 10k? That's good to know.

I just had my 5k service and the dealer told me they use 5w 30 Mobil, not synthetic, since the F is not certified synthetic. He showed me the Lexus recommendation in the computer. Does using synthetic affect performance apart from increased oil change intervals? Will it void warranty if one increases oil change intervals based on synthetic use?

You have nothing to fear for warranty coverage if you have your used oil analyzed. The 2UR-GSE not synthetic certified? Where is that posted? I can't find anything in TIS (the official source for all Lexus/Toyota/Scion technical information) saying anything more than ILSAC 5w-30 is recommended. All synthetics exceed ILSAC's current GF5 specification.

So Lexus is charging $250 for non-synthetic oil? Wow, now I'm even more upset.

I paid $125 for non synthetic, it's $180 for synthetic; can probably get it for less elsewhere? Would anyone recommend chains like NTB?

This is exactly why I buy my oil at Wal-Mart and do it myself. $48 for 10 quarts of Mobil 1. Paying $55 MORE for synthetic is robbery.

I tried 2 Lexus dealerships in the Houston area and they both use Valvoline synthetic 5w30. Any thoughts?

Am I hearing correctly that there are many people who DO NOT use full synthetic in the F's?

I always assumed performance car = performance gas (91 octane) and performance oil (full synthetic)

Mobil 1 is all I used on my G35. I put 196,000 miles on that car in 6 years with 0 problems. Great Japanese craftmanßhip and Mobil 1 lead to that success.

Another vote for Royal Purple Synthetic! You can pick up 12qts of it along with a K&N Filter (HP-7018) for $100 shipped for from Autoplicity, and that works out to about $85 per oil change w/filter of $75 w/o. I have run it in every car I've owned over the past 10 years and my engines have lasted forever. I currently have 158K on my '03 Denali and it runs as well as it did with 158 miles. And my NIssan Altima before that had 170K+ and ran like new until the day I sold it.
