I have seen a few different intake options that seem to be popular for the IS-F. JoeZ, Takeda and Injen. Does anyone have recommendations on the best one? I have also heard that the computer adjusts pretty quickly to the new intake system and the initial HP gains are dismissed greatly. Is there any truth to this?

With the CAI is you loose the sound of the secondary intake at 3600rpm, however you get a stronger growl from idle to redline.

heat soak is an issue in the summer, however in the winter there is no question it pulls harder

 

What is heat soak?

 

Heat soak is the heat absorbed by the intake from the engine compartment in general and the location of the intake directly behind the radiator in particular.

In my DD, I see about a 5*F delta over ambient in the intake air temperature in the summer. Not really much to worry about.

 

That depends on the automobile. Some are impacted worse than others...

 

I have the Joe-Z intake on the stock air box. I keep changing my mind with what air filter to put in there as ive heard of people having problems with an oiled filter--getting CEL's and such. Ive heard good things about the tom's...Anybody else?

 

I have been searching he forum for a while to figure out what intake to put on. I have for the most part settled on the Joe Z intake and a Toms drop in. The only concern is if the ECU will compensate. Has anyone with Joe Z and Toms seen any degradation in performance after install?

I considered the Joe Z and Toms intake setup as Joe Z's workmanship suits the ISF to a T. However I love the fact that my car no longer sounds timid from 0-3600rpm. Its all 8 cylinders all the time now

 

Has anyone tested Takeda against Joe Z? would be interested in seeing howthey perform against each other.

 

The gains for any intake are marginal and are about the same from one to the other; therefore I suggest finding one that suits your engine bay aesthetically. Sometimes even in the rare instance, an intake can you loose a few hps depending on your total setup. Just recalling from memory from the different threads and dynos in the last 1.5 years I've been at CL-ISF. Hopefully this gives perspective for some of you new IS-F owners.
