Default Reliability

Hi all. I am new to this forum as I am considering buying an IS-F. I am currently driving a volvo s60r, although I love the car I am fed up with the quality of vehicle that Volvo is producing these days. The car is constantly needing very expensive repairs and since it is a Volvo I can only take the car to two shops that know how to fix it (Both of which are terrible). I am wondering if you guys have similar experiences with Lexus. Can any shop repair them? Do the modern Lexus's hold up as good as modern Toyotas.

Yes, the Lexus/Toyota quality is still there. While maintenance can be performed by most shops, I'd either do it myself for the simple jobs like oil changes, or let a dealer do it for major jobs like valve clearance inspections (unless you just know how to do that). Lexus is one of, if not THE, most trouble-free car you'll own. (I've had 5).

Mine has 57k miles on it and i drive it everyday... hard. No problems. That's part of what you're paying for.

If your buying a used one, as long as all the services have been taken care of you really can't go wrong with a Lexus!

New ones you don't have to worry about at all

Although serving a Lexus can be a bit expensive, most have no reliability problems.

My family has owned four Lexus vehicles, and none had any troubles throughout our ownership. Three were well over 150k in miles, and the other being my F. The reliability is by far one of the best if not the best in the automotive industry, and consumers take notice of that.

I actually bought a lexus because my parents had a lexus minivan. I really liked the ride and the things are built so well. Ive pounded my ISF for 2.5 years and havent had a single problem.. I like rolling up to the Lexus on the Park in my ISF--they treat me like a god. They do try to charge you for EVERYTHING though..

I love my car and I my intention is not to bad mouth Lexus, but in the spirit of full disclousure: My ISF currently has it's motor out and completely dissassembled while Lexus decides what to do with it. Mine is not alone, there are a few early 2008s documented here that have had heads replaced and blocks replaced.

I'm SOLD on the Lexus line. I actually work as a service adviser at a Volvo Dealership. I take it that you have not driven the new S60R? I got my first chance the other day and I must say that the new one will embarrass your existing one, it feels very impressive all around. I am jaded because I only see problems with Volvo's every day (it's part of my job!)

I drive Lexus because i can only be satisfied with a V8 sports sedan. Add to that great luxury, resale, and reliability... and that's what I drive Lexus for. I have huge respect for the new S60R, but I get to drive one whenever I want!

I love my Lexus. Ive only had one recall for the oil line. And under warranty they replaced my XM Radio Reciever.

Get the Certified Pre Own. And before 50K buy the extended warranty.

Ticking, knocking at idle. Jurry is still out on the cause but they have observed a few strange things. I plan to detail it more when they havenade a conclusive finding. So far there has been a cylinder out of spec, cylinder wall scoring, worn thrust bearings, etc.
