Reliability
i have a 2009 RX350
1999 IS200
2011 IS350
2009 ISF
i have had no problems with any of the cars at all
only the RX had any work done to it (rear tail gate mechanism) which the dealer pointed out and fixed it under warranty
Toyota/Lexus reliability is light years ahead of any european makers

Sorry, off topic.. but i have to ask!
Delivery Feb 2008 vin in the 200's. Knocking could be heard from across my driveway. Cylinder #1 was 1.5 thou off in round AND a thou flair out moving down to the crank this slop in the cylinder could have been causing the piston to knock around in the bore. The pistons have almost no skirt on them to keep weight down but it allows for a bit more wiggle room in the cylinder. A trade off, exaserbated by the bore bein too big.
I'm SOLD on the Lexus line. I actually work as a service adviser at a Volvo Dealership. I take it that you have not driven the new S60R? I got my first chance the other day and I must say that the new one will embarrass your existing one, it feels very impressive all around. I am jaded because I only see problems with Volvo's every day (it's part of my job!)
I drive Lexus because i can only be satisfied with a V8 sports sedan. Add to that great luxury, resale, and reliability... and that's what I drive Lexus for. I have huge respect for the new S60R, but I get to drive one whenever I want!

Hmm according to those reliability surveys, Volvo seemed to consistently be on the better end of the scale amongst the European manufacturers. Obviously not close to Lexus' reputation but well ahead of industry average and commonly ahead of some Nissan or Mazda models as well. That was the reason I gave my support to my sister buying an XC60 R-design. (she didn't like the RX or MDX but still wanted a reliable luxurious highish-end SUV)
Do you believe she made a mistake in her purchase?
