Near Luxury Car: Lexus IS
Retained value: 39.8 percent
The Lexus IS beat out the BMW 3-Series for top dog in this category because it is a popular choice among younger male, drivers.
Our take: Though not as dynamically accomplished as the BMW 3-Series, the IS is the most fun-to-drive Lexus, and it offers lower pricing than its German counterpart. We prefer the IS 350 for the added power without much cost in fuel economy.

In JD Powers survey IS line also wins in top 20 Curb Appeal once again BMW 3 series and C series Benz are not in top 20

The Lexus IS, offered as a coupe and a sedan, faced down tough competition from the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. While Lexus is known for world-class luxury, the IS may be the brand's best all-around car, thanks to sporty handling and strong engine performance. Buyers gave the IS high marks in most categories, but found the heating and air conditioning, audio/navigation/entertainment features, fuel economy and exterior design to be their favorite attributes — as did we.
