Default 3 hours later...

This took me 3 hours. By myself. Pain in the @$$. Especially the long tube, going "over, under, over under" with a 50' roll of wet header wrap, slinging it over each shoulder to keep it organized. Total wrap used about 80ft....

From my past experiences, wrap is a great tool. But definitely keep an eye on the headers. I've had the wrap actually cause cracking in headers on a couple cars. Worked a little too well.

Also because there not stainless it could cause them to rot out faster. Nice wrap job though are you going to dyno?

remember. they are coated too. im pretty sure no harm can be done by wrapping coated headers. the wrap is about the same heat rating at the coating...

I've seen wrap destroy coatings.

You can try using a silicone spray they make for it to help keep moisture out.

I'm certain you won't see any benefit from the wrap other than slightly reducing the engine bay heat. It would seem you have more to lose by wrapping the headers than not. The ceramic coating does a fantastic job as is. You also void any warranty associated with the headers by wrapping them.

all your comments taken into consideration.

my "warranty" was void a long time ago.

my car puts on 5000km per year. imo i have nothing to lose and only better scavenging to gain.

if you would like i can stop sharing my experiments.

My only comment here is for you to maybe lose the attitude Some of us, me included, see no benefit in wrapping ceramic headers, and some of us, me included, think it could do harm to the headers. These are comments from enthusiasts, like yourself, who march to the beat of their own drummer, but also have experiences that may be of interest to readers and to you. Don't take it personally It's you car, do with it as you please. I certainly did.

^^^ +1 on attitude. You have to expect all sides of the arguement when you post pictures or ideas on these forums, therefore you need to have thick skin prior to posting.

Coating or not, wraps help by trapping heat in the headers. It will shorten the life of the headers, usually by cracking first.
