Default brake pads

so is there a favorite brake pad that everyone seems to be getting over another? I have read some threads and it does not seem like there is a particular pad that seems to be the favorite. My fronts look like they are comming to an end and i need to order some for the near future.

am i missing something?
im looking for something with less dust of course, even if there is a bit of brake pedal sacrifice, but it is going to be all street driving. No autocross or any cray stuff.

I just got the Carbotech Bobcat 1521's on the front last week. They are perfect for street use. Though, they seem weak under aggressive driving, and definitley not for the track. They cost $201 for a set, so about half the price of the OEM and definitley less dust and no noise what so ever.

Yeah, same here. I'm only at 19k too. Pads are near the wear indicator. I have some Hawk ceramic pads waiting. Debating if I should still keep them or go with the Carbotech Bobcats. I think a select few have Project Mu pads?

I've been looking at getting some new brake pads and from my research:

Stoptech Street Pads
-Good for both street and light track
-About the same initial bite as stock
-Some say less dust, other say about the same
-Front and Rear availible

Carbotech 1521
-Less dust than stock.
-Some say about the same inital bite as stock.
-Mainly for street use, not track.
-There have been concerns about the sizing...about 1mm smaller than stock on outer edge, and also some low speed noise.
-Front and Rear availible

Hawk HPS
-Good for both street and light track
-Less dust than stock.
-Only Fronts availible
-Some complaints of "Ring of Rust" around rotors.

Hawk Ceramics
-Street only.
-Less dust than stock.
-Only Fronts Availible.
-Some complaints of "Ring of Rust" around rotors.

Ferrodo...What I currently have in the fronts
-Feels just like stock...dusts about the same.
-Some "brake clicking" at low speeds...need to put more brake pad lube.
-I think only front's abailible.

I'm currently leaning towards the StopTech's, but wish I could get some more info of how they are from people who have tried them first hand, specifically of how much they dust.

There's also Pagid pads available, but the pricing on them is astronomical. They were originally made for an SLK 55 AMG Benz.

I ended up going with the project Mu pads, there was mixed reviews about the fitment of the bobcat's and I found a vendor (Circuit MS) who overnighted the pads to me on a holiday weekend as I needed them ASAP.

subscribed. I'll be changing out pads soon so I don't have to clean my wheels so often.

Anyone try or have Hawk HPS or EBC Yellowstuff pads on their F? Trying to see other alternative to the Bobcats (fitment issues) and Project Mu's (pricey).

While they produce less dusts comparing to OE, my 4 stock wheels still get blacken and dulled with StopTech pads by the end of the fifth day after a wash. After 6K miles, the initial bite sucks and worse when wet, squeals like a pig when cold or during light breaking. I'll go back to OE and live with the dusts but the performance is second to none, wet, hot or cold. Sorry, it's not what you want to hear.

Just let me know if you want to test out on mine.

Thanks for the review. I guess now is between the Hawk HPS or the Project Mu.

IMO... get the Carbotechs... and if you ever decide to track your car... their pads are up to the task. And I wouldn't get any pad that couldn't do 'Front & Rear' matched.
