That is why nothing gives me more satisfaction than doing my own oil change where I know I drain out as much oil as I can (MIN 1 Hour), take off the oil filter and clean off the housing, make sure I prefill my oil filter and put it on just tight enough, and pour in the oil myself.

Default oil change

im about 500 miles away from my first diy oil change with mobil 1. Well i just searched about diy oil change and it seems like only a few may do their own oil changes. there is like only 2 discussion of oil changes? why? just wanted to know for those that do theirs where they got their drain plug gaskets? i don't want to pay $2.50 for one drain plug gasket! Also if they are just running the cheaper version oil filter on their f? the 04152-yzza3 apparently for the toyota tundra v8. I already bought one so i am just deciding to use it. And prob. get the one for the f, on the next oil change.

I perform my own oil changes. I buy the actual oil filter for the ISF, part number 04152-51010 for ~ $8. Drain plug gasket, 90430-12031, $0.80 from local Toyota dealer.

Due to the low clearance of the car, I have to jack up 1 side first. Then slide the heavy duty floor jack to jack up the front via front jack point (crossmember?)

Besides that and the 10 quarts of oil, it's a normal oil change.

i just tried, and well im stoked cause my black rhino ramps on my driveway work well for the f to get up on. I was worried that the front end wouldnt clear but it clears barely.

so mike that filter you mentioned different part number than mine i assume is the one for the f. So can i ask you what lexus dealer only charged you $8 for it? awesome price. And what toyota dealer charged you $.80 per drain gasket? cause the toyota dealer i called wanted $1.70 and the lexus dealer wanted $2.5 wtf!

thanks for the response man. i love doing my own oil changes, it just makes me feel satisifed doing my own work and i know its done properly and i saved some cash money.

also i went to autozone for the sst tool, part number 25404 type f, and is this right? the sst tool is soo small? i havent gotten a chance to see if it is the right size and if it works, but in another thread someone mentioned that this part works fine and is only $5.99! compared to the $38 one at the dealer.

I change my own oil. Oil filters have been discussed before. Here:

And Here:

In short use the cheaper one, the one for the Tundra. It has parts you wont use, but will do the job just great, and it's OEM quality.

I purchased a pack of 10 oil filters, 04152-51010, on ebay a few months back for $80 shipped.

The crush washers I purchased from Longo Toyota 6 months ago. The parts guy charged me $8 for 10.

As for the SST for the oil filter "cap," I'm just using the same one I purchased for an IS350, about 3 years ago, which is an exact fit for the ISF oil filter cap. Don't mind the picture, it is made of aluminum.
