your passion is admirable but a cute dog biting 'clean through the top' of your hand sounds like a physically traumatic event--even if the dog is lovable and cute.

the suspense is overwhelming... (both why the dog bit and the what the numbers are)

Another 'helpful' tip: Feed him more often.....

I'll bet the Takeda looks sweet. Can't wait to see and hear about it.

Default Afe Takeda Intake

the packaging. A little different take than the Injen. Uline airpacks and bubble wrap. No thing was loose when I shook the box.
and look a license plate bezel.

If it verified by the dyno test the takeda really produces the power claimed, I would be selling my Joe Z intake tube and toms air filter. Figs you should test Joe Z intake tube and toms filter to see if the difference in price is justified by the gain in rwhp.

Default detail shots Takeda

The pics. As you can see the boots a cast silicone. Clamps are roughly the same quality as the Injen, both USA made. The airbox interface seems a little heavier than needed to me and there is only one lower tab not two. Airfilter qulaity looks on par, but the Amsoil has more surface area. There is no mounting tab for the MAF.

AND the nit pics

The Takeda had a little extra filler metal where the weld started. Also the MAF interface is a little "gappy".

also the aluminum material is a bit low density, like its a 1000 series instead of 6061 like the injen. The step down is also have swaged and half welded as you can see from the above pics.

The big gripe and big issues I had. The MAf holes did not line up and I had to file the aluminum on the MAF flange.

The coupler engagement on the TB side is very small and there is no ridge to hold it. Also the breather hoses fit pretty loose...they should have added a bubble flare.

I will upload and edit some video later of the initial run and preliminary gtech results.

Figs

I didn't have the MAF problem you had with my Takeda. Everything lined up perfectly.

Things I noticed - The Takeda filter is held on to it's backing plate by 5 screws on the Takeda, only 4 on the Injen. However, on the Injen, one of the tapped holes was mistaped, it was too large and we had to use a larger screw. However, for comparison the K&N filter is held on by only 2 screws.

The filter housing (or backing plate) floats on the Injen, it attached to the car by two studs mounted under the hood. The attachment points are rubber. The takeda, as you have seen above is rigidly mounted to the backside of the OEM airbox with the factory clips and the bottom tab. The Takeda seems like a slightly heavier gauge and has a nice crinkle finish. The Injen is thinner and is painted flat black.

Also, I found the Injen rubber hoses to be super tight when being fitted over the stock air inlet and over the Injen filter. I ended up using the stock hose clamp over the stock air inlet because the Injen hose clamp just wouldn't fit.

Figs and Lou, you should present your findings and pictures to both Takeda and Injen, so that they can correct these little issues on the production of intakes. These are issues that one would expect on pre-production units, but once they go into mainstream production, there should be none of these issues.

Bump for Dynos.

--------------------------

GB prices for 5 person min ea. Add your name to the intake list. and we will keep this open. If I get more than 10 in a column then I can lower it further. Also if the dyno results put you in a different camp, that is fine too, you can swap. I will try to get some g results ASAP and then dyno numbers shortly after. Summer tires are on now so I should be able to do some prelim testing tomorrow.

Afe Takeda $335 shipped (lower 48)

1. Isfer (pending dyno results).
2.
3.
4.
5.

Injen $260 shipped (lower 48)

1.
2.

I am in the process of feeding this back to them.
Also, my dyno is scheduled for the 17th...things are pretty booked up and that is the dyno day for the club even so I should have plenty fo time to swap intakes and get some drive time and then return for another baseline.
