Default Headliner Material?

Hi all!

I am in the process of rewrapping my is300 headliner. I was considering wrapping it in the IS-F headliner material, but I don't know exactly what the material is called. Does anyone have a clue?

Also, are the 2IS and the IS-F made of different headliner materials?

Thank you all in advance!

I think it is made of genuine rat fur. I my opinion it sux. I am surprised that a car of this caliber doesn't us Alcantara. If you have the choice to do it from scratch do it in Alcantara.

Well, I just got in from the garage after caressing the headliners of my F and my wife's ES. My wife thinks I'm nuts, BTW. Anyway, they feel exactly the same. Except for color, they also look the same. And, I sorta like the material, whatever it is.

Lexus needs to learn from Mercedes AMG on this one, nothing beats the quality of the Mercedes E63 AMG series....(note how I didn't mention the C63 as it does not use suede either).

I guess only cars >$90k qualify for suede! This means the future GS-F should employ this material if my hypothesis is correct.

PS: The e92 BMW M3 does not use suede either!

The LS 430 I believe ultra/executive had an escaine headliner and it was nowhere close to 90k. The OP can use that.

I confirmed with lowbuxracer the IS/IS-F have the SAME material but the IS-F is black

I'm rewrapping the is300's headliner because right now it's so messed up and old. It does matter to me that it looks nice (I'm not going to put booboo material on my car when I am trying to restore it) but at the same time, alcantara is just about the most expensive, yet nicest, I could possibly go with. :\

I don't want to go with suede because I personally do not car for it's texture of for the fact whenever you touch it, it can become "patterned" (That is the best I can explain):

Thanks for all your help, guys, especially 1sicklex...

I really do like my 2IS's headliner material; it's soft and it looks appropriate in an is300. Any hints as to what this material is? No one has really answered that; just given me advise on what I SHOULD wrap it in.

But, I guess if I want to be crazy, I could go out and get the alcantara. :P

They have learned, but do you want an ISF that costs $80k? Nope.
