So I just picked up the iPod kit for the new ride and it is not registering with the system correctly. There are two cables that come from the adapter unit. One is a 12-pin male connector to go directly to the head unit. The other is a 12-pin female that can take the factory installed 12-pin male. According to the instructions if a 12-pin male is already connected to the factory head unit you are just supposed to plug into the female 12-pin adapter. That's what I have. The system doesn't register anything when I do that. I have tried all sorts of combos. The closest I got was plugging in the male 12-pin adapter directly into where the factory 12-pin was. It registers the iPod but the screen interface does not work correctly. HELP!!!
you also have sat radio? if so, that's the problem. you can ONLY have either the sat radio or the factory ipod kit. you can't have both. in your case you should have the vaistech

I don't believe that's correct as I have the SAT radio and the Lexus provided and dealer installed iPod interface and everything works correctly.

i don't know what ipod kit your dealer installed, but definitely not both factory. fact is they can't work together coz' they are fighting for the same resource.
in fact, i know a lot of dealerships don't carry the factory kit but the vaistech instead, partly because of this issue

umm, i think the problem might still exist coz' of how the sat radio is done, which is at the amp and not behind the radio unit

You could be right on that one because I didn't see the kit before it was installed. Does the vaistech offer defeats for those irritating requirements to be stopped before changing folders, etc? Mine still requires you to be stopped for some of the functions to operate.
Went to the dealership yesterday. They refunded my kit and told me that if I had SAT pre-wired the kit doesn't work. Why they didn't tell me this when I bought the part I don't know...and of course they didn't offer to put the car back together. Vaistech it is unless there is something better?

nop. that's a problem of the speed sensor so even vaistech won't be able to display it when the car is moving. but of course, you can always hack it with the override kit. have mine in the gs and very happy
