my rears are pretty much done. is it good to change only the rear cuz the front has a lot of padding left? i am plannin on gettin slotted rotors as well so I'm not sure of the consequences with mixing pads and rotors from the front and rear.

Thanks Robert.. That was cool of you!!!

You should email your contact there and ask them why the IS-F specific pads are being made this way ??

NONE of the IS-F use "Electronic Wear" sensors....

I never understood why they did that...

Granted I'm running them already, but they really should have just be like OEM full pads..

Do you know if these pads fit any other application? Maybe that's why
Or it is some lost in translation issue

Lobuxracer has stated that our Brembo Calipers are used in at least one other off the shelf OEM application...

It's a Mercedes, that uses our calipers. Their application use the E sensors for the front pads.

Just don't recall the year & model.

There is clearly no reason for that on the IS-F..
So I think (my opinion), their original data collection was pulled from a sample pad they received for the Mercedes Brembo caliper..

Well you guys pretty much cleaned me out overnight. I'm down to 1 full set in my inventory. The supplier has more but there will be a couple days wait time for it to ship to you.

Robert

They were originally on the 2005 SLK55 AMG and CLK55 AMG and have since been installed on the CLK63 AMG These cars have the E sensor that is why the pads have it, aftermarket brake manufacturers did not create a new design for the small market the IS-F is, it is easier and cheaper for them to reuse an existing pad.

^ Bingo. All pads fall under a FMSI # and that's basically the pad shape/design. That FMSI # will cross to many different cars on most numbers. The lower the application list generally the higher the cost.

Thanks for the added model info....

I guess if PMU is going through the trouble of making "IS-F" specific part numbers, I would have liked to have seen them made correctly..

But that's just my opinion ..

I agree 100%

So does this mean I can use pads that fit the Mercedes AMG 55 application?

If the pads fit the caliper, does that mean rotors made to fit the caliper on the Mercedes application will fit our IS-F application?

Just trying to understand how much is intercompatability

The rotors could have the same diameter and thickness but a different bolt circle.

You would have to see if Mercedes and ISF wheels were interchangeable. If they had the same bolt pattern, they would be.

Not at all true. The rotor hat will need to have the same offset, and that's very unlikely.

Yes, you can order Pagid pads that fit the MB and they will work fine in the F on the front only.

More options here.

I doubt anything besides the pad will work...

Rotor design & hub area are more than likely different.

Even more interesting..

The PMU pads for the IS-F have a Solid Backing plate with just a notched Puck area...

While the Pads for the MB have a notched Backing plate & Puck for the "E Sensors".
