Alright I need new tires... literally by Monday or Tuesday...

I narrowed it down to the following:

Toyo T1R's, Michelin PS2's, or Vredestein Ultra Sessanta.


I've had a set of Toyo Proxes 4 and they were pretty good... I've always wanted to try the T1R's, but I've heard their quality is not as well as the past...

The Michelin PS2's are just sick... I hear they are great for comfort and traction... wet or dry and are rated the higest amongst the other 3, but they have a nice price tag to go with them. I'm most tempted to buy these because I know they are guaranteed to make me happy with the quality. But not soo much with the money...

The Vredestein and very new, but have been blown up on the M3 forums and they seem to love it and compare it to the Michelin PS2's. I'm thinking of purchasing the Vredestein, but I'm nervous of ending up with something I won't like.


Any other ideas?

FYI: I'm going with 235-OR-245/35/19 and 275/30/19...

 

I do not know about the Vredestein... But I will definitely go with the Michelin PS2, I loved them on my GS and I looking foirward to kill the Bridgestone so I can move to PS2 on the F!

 

cannot go wrong with ps2 for sure.
i have t1r on my F, i love em- but i don't ever drive her in winter or even rain, so i cannot really comment on other than summer performance.

 

When it's time, I will be going with the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT. 245/35/19 in front and 275/30/19 in back:

I cant tell you about the PS2 but im sure they are great tires, ive heard they wear down too fast though. However i have the Toyo's and they are Great, I dont think thre is a tire out there that can beat the T1r's in priceerformance:comfort ratios. Ive taken the toyos to the track and It made driving so easy for a track-noob like me that im not even looking into anythign else, well maybe the sumitomos III (cheap performance)

 

hrmmm... the T1R's are a great price... but everyone says the comfort is better on the PS2's

 

I have the Kumho Ecsta's and they've been great.

 

Well the beat price for the Michelins have been $1611 with tax, install, and road hazard protections.

The Toyo's are $1100 with the same specs.


Hrmm. That's a $500 gap.

 

i say go wit the toyo if u want to save but if u have money go with the michelins

 

Go Toyo. They will be 90% of what the PS2's are, but a less then 90% of the price!

 

I originally had the Michelin Pilot sports in the rears and have managed to wear them down to slicks, when the time came I had to look for new shoes, so I looked at the Pilot sports again and they had increased their prices since the last time. I searched on Tire Rack like yourself and managed to find a comparable tire and it was the Dunlops SP Sport Maxx. They had pretty much the same specs as the MPS, but were $80 less per tire!!!!!! Went to my nearest tire center and they would match the online price and I had them installed.

The aggressive tread pattern and the grip on these tires are tremendous, really a value for the buck.

Still have Pilot sports on the front of the G35, but the way I am driving with the Dunlops, I am sure the fronts will need changing in the near future. I wonder what tire I am going to install then !!!!!!!!!!!

 

Only Bridgestone and Michelin have tires specifically designed for the IS-F. You'll have a hard time beating the PS2s built for the F. If you don't think they're worth the money, you might as well run Kumhos. They're cheap and black like any other tire not designed for the car.

 

I decided to do the T1Rs. They are close the Bridgestones.

I went with 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. I'll have to get my car raised today then have the tires installed tomorrow. Mine are looking really nasty :-X

 

Wow - I'm really having trouble believing you, of all people, wrote this. Does that mean every part on our Fs, should only be replaced with stock? No modifications at all? How about brake pads? They are Brembo and were specifically designed for the F. What kind of brake pad do you run? I could go on, but I will leave it with that.

Michelin PS2's weren't built for the IS-F, but rather the unique 225/255 fitments were. The problem is finding a tire that meets these specs in a 19 inch fitment, which is why so many of us are going up to 235/265's because there are just more options.

I can only speak for myself, but spending $1600.00 for new tires isn't an option regardless of how great they are or if they were "made" for my car
