Default Hit and Run

Man, a guy just can't a break. Hit by a guy earlier this year and now I find that some mindless numbskull scraped me while I left the F parked. Wrinkled the same fender replaced after the collision. The culprit left some white paint as evidence but this is probably all I'll ever know about them.

It just so happened it was one day before completing a course in auto body repair. The subject of my training was the beater Altima, but now I'm faced with a real final exam. Otherwise I could pay the shop...just doesn't seem right.

Anyway, I need some assistance in finding a replacement fender. I think it may be beyond filler repair. I'm having a difficult time finding an online source before I have to seek some free advice from the shops.

Some pics of damage may help to visualize.

This doesn't quite display the intricacies of the wrinkling. My concern is the crafting needed to address where the fender is rolled. You'll see the small pinch extending into the rest of the flare.

Updated pictures after self-repair.

The base coat blend went perfect. I'm not entirely satisfied with my the amount of clear orange peel in a few corners, simply because my spray technique show lack of experience. I'm also not too happy with my shaping. The multiple damaged curves and angles meant I had to do some careful sculpting. You me and anyone else that studies it may notice, but it otherwise does the job for now.

Eventually I think I want to unbolt the fender and replace. It just turned too cold to do body work in the garage so I may order one (I found Stevinson has them) prep and spray at the booth where I took my class last fall.

Does anyone have experience removing an IS fender? I've already noticed the single piece F rocker panel extending over the fender. I'm open to some exploratory surgery, but not into taking apart too much.

sorry to hear what happened to your ride man. i hate it when people dont have the decency to admit when they are wrong, but no worries- karma finds its way to rectify all of life's decisions in the end. though you dont like your work completely, i think it looks pretty damn good considering what happened throughout the year.
