It's time to replace my tires. I was wondering if any of you have purchased (and installed) something besides the Michelin's, and of course, been happy with them.

I went to Tire Rack and saw the following:

Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 (Max Performance Summer)
Treadware 280

Kumho Ecsta SPT (Ultra High Performance Summer)
Treadware 320

Money is a bit tight right now so I'd rather not pay for the PS2's unless you all have information that leads me to believe I should.

I've been a Dunlop fan for quite a few years now. They have a new tire that they are releasing. the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT. It's less expensive than the PS2s, and I'd bet the performance will be very similar. It's available in a 245/35/19 for the front and 275/30/19 for the rears. These two sizes will fit no problem. Everything I have read about them so far has been positive, and these will be my choice when I retire.

If price and performance are you main concerns I'd recommend the Nitto NT05.

Oh boy. Kumho and Hankook are Korean tires, not Chinese tires.

I like Nittos as well, but if I had to choose between Kumho and Hankook I would do Kumhos. I had a set of Ecstas in 18s on a previous car and I loved them. My Hankooks were terrible, but not sure if they have improved since.

 

Not sure if they have a fitment for our cars yet, but I put Sumitomo HTR Z III's on my 911 and they are great. Replacing Continental Contact Sport 3s and Bridgestone RE050's

 

i think that the ps2 is the best tire! just think about safety and the fact they may last longer. i would bite the bullet and get another set of the ps2! my ps2 need to be replaced soon too!

 

what would you recommend for the is-f? what size? mine is lowered but i have the stock wheels! thanks

 

I was looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 evo too. They had really good reviews in the latest Car and Driver magazine where they compared a lot of tires against the Michelin PS2's that they considered to be the benchmark tires and the Hankook's had better dry grip than the Michelin's!! I'm not too certain about a lot max performance tires due to how harsh the ride can be with some of these there...some tires to increase the performace make the sidewalls way to stiff for it to be daily drivable. Put together a really stiff sidewall, the stock IS-F suspension...you may as well kiss your kidneys goodbye! I have a feeling the Nitto NT05's are going to be very sticky, but also very stiff. The Nitto INVO didn't do too great at all in the Car and Driver test so I'm taking that off my list of potential tires. I want a tire that's comfortable in a daily driver, but also sticky. From the reviews, that looks like the Hankook's fit the bill pretty nicely. I'm still not certain I'm going to go with the Hankook's...they are still very new and not much feedback on Tire Rack about them. I've also been eyeing the Bridgestone RE-11's which also have good overall reviews on Tire Rack. I know the Michelins are proven to be great overall tires, but I'm not certain it's worth shelling out upwards $400 per tire!!...Darshana S...

 

If you're lowered I'd go with the 235/35/19's in the front and 275/30ZR19 for the rear. Once I get my winter setup and my PS2's are worn out I plan on going this route on my stock rims.

 

deff something like 275/30Z/19... i donno why lexus didnt come stock with them....

 

Toyo T1R works well for me

 

Kumho Ecsta and Nittos have worked well for me in the past. Maybe some Yokohama Advan Sport?

 

I have the Kumho's mentioned and they really surprised me with grip....I would go with GY Eagle F1s....great tire, I love it.
