Default transmission

I just got my ISF a few days ago. Before, I was driving an IS-350 with Tom's ECU. I noticed that the 1-2 shift on the ISF seems very soft weather I drive it in D or M. The demo car I drove at the Lexus dealer shifted very strong with a decent 2nd gear scratch but mine will not do anything near. Does anyone know if you can adjust the transmission shift points, etc on the F? I am going to have my ECU remodified by ICODE next weekend and hope that it will solve the problem. Also for maximum performce, is it best to drive the F with the traction control off or does it matter ? Any suggestions or tips would be apprecited it.

thanks

I know when my cars warmed up and I drive it hard for a bit it starts to shift harder and quicker, but when I'm "babying" my car the shifts are not as aggressive when the car is warmed up.

Congrats. I'm going to guess the demo car you drove at the Lexus dealer was fully broken in. Has your IS F been broken in yet? I wouldn't let a no-name 3rd party try to "recode" your transmission...especially if you haven't broken in your car and you're within factory warranty.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the tip. The car is brand new so not broken in. So, I guess, I will see how things go in the next few months. The ECU rewrite is by ICODE and they have done many here in Japan ( and the only company that offers such). It is a rewrite that is not permanet like the TOM's ECU program for the IS350 in the past. So I can take it in to the local dealer and have then update the ECUand it will become stock. The local dealer here has been very accomodating as far as warranty ( As long as you don't blow your motor as a result of the mod but I would think a bit difficult with just a ECU mod). I am also getting a bigger throtle at the same time. If anyone is interested in the outcome, let me know and I will post the result. The guy told me that it will hands down beat a stock M3.

Also, I have been told by ICODE that running a ground cable from the battery to the throttle increase throttle responce by a noticeable amount. I intend to get this done at the same time but have anyone heard about this?

Sorry if my questions/comments are basic as I am new to the ISF.

it will get better little bit, not a lot ISF response at lower gears i feel is slower than is350. It gets up and moving at higher rpms but there is delay when you stomp it and and just wait for it to go

Agree with the Responsiveness on Normal mode...At low speeds it does feel less responsive and slower compared to IS350 at lower speed...But as soon as you step on it...it becomes a different animal

yes, you must let the transmission warm up. wait until you have two bars on the oil temperature gauge before you push the manual shifts.

In sport mode the F feels just like the 350 at low throttle openings.

I've heard the BS about grounding the throttle body with a wire before. It's an outright lie. Put anti-seize on your ground strap bolts and you'll be far ahead of any ancillary grounding wire system someone is trying to sell you.

This is very interesting, to even hear people say that the F, with 100 more HP, feels like an is350 in 1-2nd gear...

I think you guys are getting used to that 100hp extra, under the hood!!!

no, it not as responsive, you have to push the pedal, more than usual to get it moving, my old GS400 was more responsive, the ISF is no doubt really quick..i just wish the throttle response was little faster

Yeah guys, I feel that in my IsF also, I have 500 miles on my car and I just started stepping on it a bit more than grandpa. I noticed that this car is not that torquey on low rpms, It does move after 4000rpm. Im still driving it in the normal mode, gonna try the sport mode soon, just dont wanna beat this car yet with 500 miles on it. I wanna let it gradually break in.

Will TOM'S linear throttle unit fix this "problem?"
