Yup. Good catch. 285/30 replaces 255/35 perfectly. 275/30 is a little small. BTW, the sidewall height is exactly the same, so you're not giving up anything, you're just adding width.
A 285 needs at least a 9.5" wide rim. The 275, is a wee bit short, and may rub, but I have seen one application where it worked, so that may be an option. I will probably go with a 265/35/19 in back when I retire. A bit taller, but not by much.
A friend of mine has 265/30/19's on his stock rear wheels. Looks pretty good and does not bulge or look bad in any way. The diameter is also slightly shorter so acceleration should improve a bit as well. 275/30/19 is another possible good choice, but not sure how that width would look on a 9" rim.

I am looking to replace my rear tires soon. Any updates from anyone that has done this??
Looking for something wider.
I came across a picture of a guys car with 275/30/19's in the rear on the stock wheels.I think I may have saw it posted on my.is. They look very good and actually weight in at 1lbs less than the stock size in the PS2's.

Here is the only other picture that was posted. Also here is the link to the forum thread which most suggest if going to this width going ahead and making the fronts a bit wider as well to reduce the effects of understeer. I think a 245/35/19 up front would be ideal to compensate for the wider rear 275 size, which in the PS2's weigh the same as the 225/40/19's.
Will the tires wear out a lot faster with a thinner tire?
For example, going from the stock 255/35 to the 275/30 is going from an 89.25 mm sidewall to an 82.5 mm sidewall. How much of a difference would that make in wear?

None. Sidewall height has nothing to do with wear.

I see, so am I correct in saying that the only thing that's really affected is the slight calibration issue on the speedometer. Sorry if the previous question sounded noob. I didn't really pay attention to tires much until now.

That's pretty simplistic. The entire suspension geometry is changed when you change the tire's diameter. Scrub radius changes, roll couple changes, ride height changes...lots of things get very different, not just speed indication.
How much this affects your driving depends entirely on how you use the car. 99% of F owners couldn't tell the difference if their lives depended on it, but the car's handling will change, and possibly dramatically at the limits of adhesion.

But surely there is a "range" of valid specs the car is built for right?
So going 10-20mm wider should not be too troublesome?
