This isnt a mustang of course it has an independent rear. There are no shocks out yet for the IS-F but some adjustables may be out soon once companies develop them.
As above, the IS-F has a fully independent suspension on all four corners. If I understand correctly, it does not have a traditional limited slip differential (like the BMW M products) but rather uses it's computer aids to similar ends?

That's correct, there is no mechanical LSD in the rear end, but VDIM aids as an
E-LSD to keep traction to both wheels in all driving modes Normal, Sport and All Off.

Aha! No wonder I don't just leave 1 black tire mark like I used to with my IS350 with all off! I'm glad they left the ABS and E-LSD on during the all-off mode!
Is the IS-F independent suspension on all four or those it has a solid differential in the rear?
If you where to upgrade the suspension to soften but maintain the spert characteristics what brand of shocks would you go for?
I am not sure you can soften the suspension and keep the car driving characteristics, that's actually opposite goals. What the ISF needs -or would benefit from- is an adjustable suspension (at least adjustable damping rate) like in MBZ E-class, Lexus GS, Nissan GTR or Corvette.
If a company develops one I will also be interested. Keep me in the loop. Thanks.
