Default Radar ???

I finally got rid of my passport 8500... and bought the valentine 1... (I hate how ugly the damn thing is.. but it gets the job done)... does anyone know if it will be worth turning on the KU Band... I know they supposivly dont use the KU band in America... but who knows?

KU band is only used in Europe and by factory (if you bought the V1 in the US) then it is turned off.

V1 is a proven radar detector and is very reliable. It's big and bulky looking, but it's functional and saves you the headache of a ticket.

Beware though, all radar detectors are useless until it's too late with Lidar.

Actually I rather be hit with LIDAR because there are actually countermeasures for it ie. Laser Jammers (as long in your state it is legal). The deadliest in my opinion is called Instant On Radar. That's when the cop won't turn his radar on until you're like very close to him thus making any radar detector useless unless the cop hits another car in front of you and gives you a warning to slow down. Otherwise, if you're alone, you're toast.

The Valentine One is actually the smallest and lightest of the top five radar detectors.

Size (from smallest to largest):

Valentine One -> 16.20 cu. in.
Bel RX65 Pro -> 16.33 cu. in.
Bel STi -> 16.33 cu. in.
Escort 8500 X50 -> 18.95 cu. in.
Escort 9500i -> 21.72 cu. in.

Weight (from lightest to heaviest):

Valentine One -> 181.5g (6.40 ounces)
Beltronics RX65 Pro -> 236.6g (8.35 ounces)
Escort 8500 X50 -> 253.7g (8.95 ounces)
Escort 9500i -> 269.2g (9.49 ounces)
Beltronics STi Driver -> 291.6g (10.29 ounces)

The Escort 9500i is the largest in size and the Beltronics STi Driver is the heaviest.
