Lets take the Audi A4. It starts as a FWD, I-4 car. Well they add a kit, wheels, brakes, engine, etc etc etc and come to the RS4. It pretty much triples the price.

Lets take my beloved 911. A base 911 is around 65k. Well, lets turbo it, add some big brakes ,etc etc, and we have a $180,000 GT2. Again triples the price.

Lets take the S350 (we don't get it here b/c it fools many of you into thinking its only a V-8). Well add a kit, engine, brakes, etc etc etc. You have the $180,000 S65 AMG.

So let me get this right....(only 3 examples)

Lexus does it with the IS 250, adds kit, big brakes, engine, etc etc.
DOUBLES the price.

And its not different enough.

Are you sure about that?
I've been reading this tread with a great deal of interest. People here are certainly passionate! Before I came across this response my thought was "what will be written here about the IS-F a year from now?" I like "1SICKLEX's" response; the RS4, GT2 and S65 AMG are, indeed, fabulous cars. The only comment I have regarding the (price/value) comparison of the RS4 and GT2 (I'm not as familiar with the S65) with/versus the IS-F is that the former are not only proven, but legendary.

One other thought. Not every A4 owner will matriculate to an RS4. Same case for the owners of the 911 and S350 to the GT2 and S65, respectively. The RS4, GT2, and S65 cars are "limited" versions of enthusiast cars that their manfacturers have built because the "production versions" of those cars have proven to be very successful and they were able to define a niche market for developing a more powerful and exclusive version. Enhanced performance, as opposed to price, is the determinitive factor. If one's decision regarding the IS-F vs. the IS 350/250; RS4 vs. A4; 911 vs. GT2; or S65 AMG vs. S350 is based on the price of the former versus the latter, then they truly don't understand that difference.

Don't get me wrong here, 416hp is a huge jump from 306hp (350) 204hp (250)

As hard as it will be for me to see all those IS F in the streets, I will patiently wait for the second generation.

To make me feel good about my decision i'll just repeat to myself "2nd gen is always better, I dont want to be a test dummy. They need to work out all the kinks" LMFAO

one last comment, i really think that they could have done a better job with the F badge on the dashboard/odometer. When i was on the dyno, it was a big eye sore...and yes im not a big fan of the new dashboard/odometer, seems like its a step back.

So lied, it was not short....but you got my point. any comments concerns complaints?
Good point. I feel the same about spending money to upgrade my IS350 to the IS-F. But one day I will kick myself in the rear when I see those infamous quad tail pipes and I want to get up close to take a closer look at the car ,but I can't keep up with it.... Then I can turn around to tell my friends " Oh well, look like an IS-F,but may be it just an IS250 with ebay's quad exhausts, anyway what we were talking about now????...

If you're happy with your IS250 that's good for you and I'm happy with your decision. Both IS250 and IS-F will take you from point A to B,but the IS-F will get there first and he will pick up the hottest looking girl before you arrive for sure...
