Japan’s Future Rockets: Uber-Lexus IS, Nissan Skyline GT-R in the wings

At the Geneva Motor Show in March, Lexus launched its new BMW fighters, the IS models, introducing the V6-powered IS 250 and IS 350. But is there another IS that will punch the performance even higher?
Rumors from Japan point to a high-performance uber-IS powered by a modified 4.3-liter V8 producing 400 hp, but speculation also suggests a possible 3.5-liter hybrid with equal pulling power. At the same time, the German automotive press is going gaga over word that Lexus has registered the name “IS460”—suggesting the possibility of an even more powerful autobahner with a 4.6-liter V8 under the hood.
Recent photos from the Nürburgring show a disguised Lexus IS prototype with twin exhaust pipes, a hood vent and upturned trunk lid, all indicating this is the high-performance IS 430, if not the bolder IS 460.
Meanwhile, the car Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn has promised in time for the 2007 Tokyo motor show—the Skyline GT-R—appears to be running through its paces in the form of a super-powered, special-bodied Infiniti G35 Coupe (below). The all-wheel-drive Skyline will be powered by a 450-hp, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with suspension tuned by Lotus engineers.

Why do I think a IS 460 is coming? Simple, that is what the competiton has. The S4 moved from a TT V-6 to a V-8. The C32 moved to a C43 etc, from a I-6 to a V-8. The M3 WILL move from a I-6 to a V-8 (due mostly to the GTR racing car).
A hybrid IS will proably come and that will be great. An IS 460 would be AWESOME and it would be the only Japanese small luxury sport sedan to offer it.
Don't forget, Rod Millen/TTE fit the 4.3 in the IS 300 with NO problems at all.

Hmmm 4.6L V8, 4UZ-FE or a new V8 series of engines?

Why would Toyota step down to Nissan to have them tune the suspension? That's just like asking BMW to ask Kia to tune their suspension. I mean if you look at this historically in a sports car standpoint, the MKIV Supra had superior handling over the 300ZX, the Celica had better/balanced handling compared to the 240SX. The IS300 has better handling characteristics than the G35 sedan. If anything. Toyota/Lexus would go to Porsche for any suspension tuning.

Oh I meant why can't Nissan tune their own Skyline GT-R suspension instead of having Lotus tune it??
