Default quantum solenoid

Hello! Has anyone here purchased this before? I’d like to hear about your experiences with it.

Seen these a while back, and just looked at them again recently. The price is a lot higher than they use to be. Looked at these and the Red Bullet ones also.

What do they do? It looks like the oil control solenoid for a cam phaser. It would only work on the exhaust side of the 2UR-GSE if it is.

Yes effects the VVT. Does look like on the IS F exhaust side only. But on most Lexus if I had a choice exhaust is the side I would choose. A few things I saw. There was more I researched also. Seems like as some of these things are, work best if you have other Mods already. But idk?

IDK either. I am still pretty convinced there are gains to be had by changing the factory cam timing in conjunction with other mods, especially reducing the EGR effect they've programmed into the ECM. Generally EGR is pretty benign, but I'm not 100% convinced this is true for the 2UR-GSE(s). The other thing about the IS F's tuning is, they didn't go Atkinson cycle with it, but they did with the RC F and all later versions of the 2UR-GSE (AFAIK). I don't know if VF Tuner provides access to cam timing tables, but I'd bet there were any number of compromises built into them for legal and warranty requirements.

These solenoids are pricey for sure. I'd rather know it will work before dropping that kind of coin on two of them.

Oh hell yea there are gains with changing Factory Cam Timing. I'm sure you remember changing Cam Timing on Bikes? I had adjustable Cam Timing sprockets on my built Kawi. Matched optimization to intake exhaust works, in addition to going along with other engine mods.

Also I am almost 99% sure VF Tuner has Cam Timing Tables, the D3 Tuner told me it has complete control over Cam Timing. They are both Bit Edit. At any rate the Solenoids would be a neat Trick if they work. Everything I see says they do.

Gimmick. How do you increase the performance of electrical solenoids driven by current?

Study ohms law and solenoid operation, you'll see why these will have little to zero gain in performance.

I've slotted sprockets and degreed cams on way too many bike engines to count. I also learned the hard way to always use blue Loctite on cam bolts with slotted sprockets. But none of that applies with what we have now.

I suspect there is a problem when headers with bigger primaries and longer tubes are used with the OEM cam timing. That's a different thread though.

I hear you, but they're claiming they use a stiffer spring and a larger drive motor to counter the stiffer spring, and with this combination their control is more precise. Kind of like automatic transmission valve body tuning with stiffer springs for better control over clutch engagement and stronger clamping force.

IDK if there is any value in this for our platform though. I think we'd be better off understanding the factory's cam timing tune and adapting it to aftermarket exhaust headers.

Always interested to know if there's a new offering for FBO ISF's. Especially for the low-to-mid-range portion of the powerband. Subscribed!
