Engine tick/tapping
Anyone else have issues with engine ticking/tapping? Mine does it after the car is warm and it's very apparent. It speeds up if I rev the engine. I use Renewable Lubricants 5w30 oil so it's not the oil. 106k on the clock. Car runs fine but the noise makes the car sound terrible. Lexus looked at it and couldn't find anything. They said the sound is normal. (Blamed it on the high pressure fuel pump/injectors) They checked my headers and said they aren't cracked when they changed my valve cover gaskets and fuel pump gaskets. It is not normal to sound like a bicycle with a baseball card in the wheel type sound on a expensive sports sedan. I've read about idle tensioner possibly or the cam timing motor possibly? This is frustrating having such a nice car that sounds terrible at slow speeds.

I'm with you man. 3rd owner of MY11 with similar sounds and I really don't like it either.
I have listened via stethoscope to timing-chain vicinity and the tick/tap is not coming from there.
RH/Passenger side HPFP louder than LH/Driver side.
See comments posted to my YT video here.
In my experience, RLI PCMO is the loudest motor oil, QSUD was quieter, and PUP quietest. Last oil change was from PUP to RLI and the difference was immediately apparent. Not the most comfortable feeling right after an oil change. Video at link above was with RLI. If RLI did not have such impressive UOA's, I would not be using it simply for the noise factor.
I have noticed some noise reduction after using Royal Purple MaxClean fuel cleaner. Not sure why. Redline SI-1 is the cleaner that I buy in bulk and does not seem to have the same impact. (I view fuel cleaners as preventative care against ethanol >10% per recent EPA/DOE waivers and associated water/corrosion risk.)

Looks like Quaker State has re-named their top product, it is now Quaker State Ultimate Protection.
