Default Transmission Mount Recommendations

Hey all,

I have RR Racing Ultimate Engine Mounts ready to install, I am looking to pair these with a trans mount.

I am looking for input from anyone that has upgraded their OEM trans mount.

If you paired this with Ultimate Engine Mounts from RR Racing; I would appreciate hearing what trans mount you used and your impression of the products impact on your F.

Thank you for your time! The forum is great!

I have had the RRacing Engine Mounts for years and installed the RRacing Road and Track trans mount last month. The shifts in sport mode are noticeably more chrispy and my exhaust seems louder. The car responds to shifts a lot better. Keep in mind NVH is very subjective and both mounts don't bother me one bit. I haven't noticed any transmission whine like the Kein trans mount gives. I heard of other F owners on FB groups complaining about slower gear clunkiness or trans whine. I haven't experienced any of that. My old trans mount was pretty shot so it was a worthy upgrade for me. For the price, it was money well spent.

Had the RR Racing engine mounts on a 2011 ISF for about 500 miles before going back to OEM engine mounts.

- When in gear at idle, 500 rpms, WITHOUT the AC on or headlights on, the vibrations generated throughout the car was unbearable.
Turning on the AC or headlights raises the "in gear" idle rpm to ~750rpms, which lessened the vibration, but still noticeable.

Yes, once moving and in gear, the RR Racing engine mounts made gear shifts feel more direct, same with downshifts.

Same with the trans mount, I stuck with OEM trans mount due to NVH reasons.
The Kein mount definitely also introduces a ton of trans noises/vibrations into the cabin.

Each person has their own level of tolerance for NVH, so it's pretty much, install the mounts and see if it's to your liking, for the balance of "drive feel" vs NVH.
Doubt there's any noticeable performance improvement with aftermarket engine/trans mounts.

I had the Kein in my car as well. It came out quickly. Too noisy for my taste. I bought the TRD mount for my Supra, and it's coming out as well. Way too much gear noise in an already noisy cabin, and it's never quiet at all.

I have the RR Racing Engine Mounts and the RR Racing Transmission Mount as well. I initially only had the engine mounts. After adding the transmission mount, I noticed more whirring and clicking from the transmission, but it doesn’t bother me enough to remove the mount. I think the increased responsiveness while shifting is worth the upgrade, especially for the cost.

Would be interested to hear your opinion on the Road and Track Trans Mount.

I’ve had the RR Engine mounts combined with the Kein tranny mount for several years. Adding the Kein mount has been a love hate relationship from day 1. There are days I love the crisp feel/response so much that I can overlook the nvh, clicking, ticking and whirring. There are days I swear the first free 1 hour I have, the Kein mount is getting removed!
Overall, it’s subjective but the Kein mount feels and sounds race car..

That being said, I purchased the rr road/track mount when it was on sale but have yet to swap it in. It is on my short list to do though.

Interested to hear how it compares to the kein when/if you do the swap!

+1 on the comparison. Kein is definitely more athletic, but you really have to play the music loud to cover up the gearbox noise. It is the same with the V-160 in the Supra - super loud gear noise in the cabin.

Finally got around to removing the Kein in favor of the rr road/track version. Wish I would have done this sooner! The rr still has an athletic feel but the harsh vibrations, loud whirring and overall nvh are MUCH LESS pronounced. Keep in mind, I have rr engine mounts, figs track lca bushings, and a few other misc bushings. Regardless, swapping just the tranny mount from Kein to rr has lessened nvh significantly! Shifts still feel just as crisp but overall annoying nvh and race car feels are significantly less pronounced!

Hmnmm I am about to order a new OEM engine mount but I also have RR Racing engine mounts waiting to go in when I get around to putting my headers in. Not sure if I should go the RR Road and Track or just stick with the OEM. The car is already pretty loud as I have the old ISSForged Track exhaust so maybe I would never notice any increased noise.

Replacing either the engine mounts or trans mount with “anything but OEM” will result in stiffer, more noise, more vibrations throughout the car for sure.

I’ve had the rr racing engine mounts for 500 miles before going back to OEM, due to the vibrations throughout the chassis at idle, while in gear, was unbearable. Yes, the shifts felt crisper and more direct once moving at speed, but it was wasn’t worth it for the vibration. Every driver has their own preference and tolerance of NVH though….

I have never had poly engine mounts in an automatic car so I guess I can't really compare. I have red poly 90 mounts in my supercharged TSX but being a manual means there is really not much vibration at stop with it in N at least to me.

That said maybe I don't want to mix the poly engine mounts and the upgraded trans mount. One or the other and call it a day.

Here's another option. After reading an article about the RCF track edition which says "Although it’s not part of the suspension, the rear engine mount was also redesigned to eliminate any sensation that the engine is “lagging behind” the chassis during aggressive changes in direction. The new mount actually reduces the stiffness of the rubber itself but increases the overall control through the use of a wider, more stable design."

Source: https://media.lexus.ca/en/releases/2...k-edition.html

I decided to order part number 12371-38180 and install it. I just installed headers and new OEM motor mounts too. I haven't driven the car yet though because the insurance is still on winter storage.

Comparing the 2 mounts the new one has a lot more rubber and is bigger overall. Twisting it by hand is harder than the old stock mount.
