Hey guys (and gals)...n00b here with questions about the hard top open/close operation. I searched and searched but didnt find any info on this matter. My questions; do you guys know if the rear sensors/sonar has anything to do with the top open/close operation?

 

Yes it does I think I read in the manual if you are to close to something in the rear it won't opperate. I will look later if I get a chance to find out exactly what it says. That was in the 2012 manual but I'm sure it is the same.

Yep. If you have park assist, when you hit the open/close button the rear sensors check for enough clearance to allow the trunk to tilt back.

However, IIRC, it can be over-ridden on the spot.
