New member and first time poster. I've searched this thread, but haven't found any information regarding my inquiry.
I inherited my wife's 2010 IS350c when we traded in my 2018 Golf GTI and purchased her an RX450hl. The IS has a few things I'd like to get corrected - the first being the weak trunk struts. From what I've read so far, this is a common issue on the 2nd generation. I've found instructional video's on replacing the struts for the standard sedan, I'm curious how different, or how much more difficult, it would be to do this repair on the 350c?
Any links to recommended parts house or specific strut, and tutorial video would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, beautiful car! We have the same one. These trunk struts should work https://parts.lexusofsantabarbara.co...gaAmdeEALw_wcB
Fantastic! Thank you for the response. I did find some more information on this while searching other threads. Looking forward to finally fixing this issue.
You are very welcome! I haven't replaced any struts on my ISC, as they are all good as new. However, I have replaced both rear trunk struts and hood struts on my RX, as all 4 of those failed.

Protip for replacing the trunk struts: If you're having trouble getting the lower mounting point for the old ones disconnected, close the trunk and raise the roof to the point that the trunk part is tilted as upwards as it can get...you will expose the lower mounting point and have tons of access room. Also, the trunk is extremely heavy so make sure you have a second set of hands or a piece of wood or something sturdy to hold it up when you disconnect one side's struts. Even a brand new strut would not be able to hold it open if there's only one.
My spouse's 2010 IS250C was sadly totaled by some careless driver who weaved into his lane and kept going back in January 2023. The replacement car is a 2023 prius (the new design) which is functional but not a "fun" car. Recently, a dear friend lost her husband, and has his 2012 IS250c to sell. Its got amazingly low mileage as it has been driven very little since covid. My spouse is thinking about getting it as a fun car, but its 1000 mi away and we really don't need a 3rd car. We have to double check that he was able to get both front airbags replaced in the recall (she is going through her records to confirm). Still musing about getting it. Thoughts?
Also, insurance can be really low depending who you use. I switched to Toyota Auto Insurance and they were willing to cover the IS350C for as little as $1/month without collision/comprehensive or $30/month with. Obviously there are still maintenance costs….

I just bought a 2011 IS350C with 86k miles and became a first time owner as of last week. I considered shipping one in but ultimately found a pretty good one locally. I guess what I’m saying is, I went for it!
