I don’t think it was my car. Didn’t happen at the next stop. Also my wife says she saw the liquid immediately when she got out of the car. Couldn’t have happened that fast

That will always be a scary sight, but if you see that again touch it and rub your fingers together to determine if it's water or oil. Often times it's the condenser's biproduct making condensation. Happens frequently if you have the defroster on in the winter too.

Agreed, the A/C will cycle on occasionally even if you are not set on defroster. It will cycle on if you have have the thermostat set to "auto". When you do the A/C light is always on—though doesn't mean the compressor is on all the time, but it does cycle.

I'm taking my car in tomorrow for this and I might use that strategy. But actually I'll probably give the they copy of the work order that someone posted here showing the gasket fix and then immediately head over to the parts department to see if they have any in stock. If they don't, I'll order them myself (yes they only need one but can't hurt to have both) and then let the service manager know just to speed up the process.

Not sure if the owner is on here… (mentioned on FB page)

But someone with a CEL, (didn’t get the codes) need their gas tank replaced…

^ Probably not the same code though? Gas tank and O2 sensor are kinda far apart..

Guessing an EVAP code and the tank was leaking. And by leak I don't mean gas.
Or the Vent valve on the tank is leaking or stuck closed...which is part of the tank.

That is not good news, up until now, it was limited to a gasket and/or an O2 sensor. Seeing this now being expanded is not a good news.

i gathered from his post this was unrelated to CEL. Seems like he had a check engine and when they diagnosed they found a defect in the gas tank.

Correct… The owner had a CEL like the others..

His did not point to this issue with the gaskets, but an entirely different issue..

You will only know what code is triggered if they tell you or you ask

Welp, 419 miles in and I've got the check engine light. Will be taking it in Saturday to get it checked, no loaner car for check engine light evaluation. Sucks since I live an hour away, so will be sitting there waiting on them. Will keep this thread updated with the findings.

You know, I am really starting I may pass on this 500 for these on-going issue. To me, I live quite far from a dealer and I am tired of seeing these issues pop up and the inconvenience it creates. I wanted to have a 500 but in light of these inconvenience (not a big issue at all, but for those who live far, it can be) and such, where I haven't signed any paperwork yet, I will sit off the sideline. I know I have been going back and forth but this is a big purchase and I don't want to deal with these issues, and the fact that Lexus has not initiated any official repair and will allow people to buy the car and then deal with the inconvenience where they know there is an issue, then I'll just pass. I don't need it that badly

Have you talked to the dealer yet to ask if they will agree to pick up the car for service if you have a problem?

I'd say get this in writing then buy if you want one. I didn't and accepted the fact I'd most likely be bringing it in for this repair since they're hard to get and I wanted one already

All the past discussion and excitement comes to this?

I'm stunned.
