I’ve been hearing this tapping noise (similar to when your catalytic converter cooling off) when the car is driving and stopped.

I lifted the car, turned the engine on and sourced the sound near the transmission. Also found when giving gas there’s a squeal noise (video below).

are you referring to the noise in your video that sounds like someone softly tapping their finger on a bongo drum?

didnt you just get the new tsb done? coincidence?

 

Your tapping sound is different from mine. My click or tap is very sporadic from the left front. Sounds like a catalytic converter cooling, but it will be a single click or two. When I exit my garage, it does it, and when I turn left, it does it sometimes, but it's not rotational, so it is very, very hard to troubleshoot and find. My sound is external, yours sounds internal. Could be a failed cat.

 

While tapping seems normal based on videos linked as well as my own ear, that squal is interesting, I never picked up on it, but maybe I have to be outside the car.

 

OP - that is an interesting sound. I must admit I never heard such a noise before and not quite sure what could be causing it. Keep us posted if you take it to the dealer for investigation

 

I have a metallic sound coming from the center of my car as well but its not as random as your clips. Mine sounds like something rotating and rubbing, it is in even pulses. Wondering if I can wait until the next service in Feb, if its going to need trans work at 11k mils and 1 year of age, the warranty should cover it anyway......
