Default Oil Changes Free or Not?

I have my first oil changed done at 1000 miles, and it was free, but I thought there was two free services done, correct or not? What is the service warranty for free?

I am taking my car in tomorrow for it’s 5000 mile oil change. I just want to know.

So basically all Lexus gives you on a $70K vehicle is 1 complimentary oil change? Sheesh.

You get one free inspection and one free oil change. If they did both at 1000 miles then your freebies are all used up. The difference is our cars require 6 month/5000 mile oil changes instead of 12 month/10000 mile services like the majority of Lexus vehicles.

Everyone is incorrect including the manual on the oil weight.

1. Skip the 1000 mile service
2. 5000 mile oil change is free (1st service)
3. 10000 mile oil change is free (2nd service) <-- a manager may have to approve the service advisor's $0 billing, OR the service advisor may code the work order as a complimentary synthetic 0W20 service as a workaround to avoid the charge.

Ultimately, when you get to #3, my advice is to call ahead and confirm beforehand. But tell them this is what the manual says. Don't ask. Say "I just want to confirm that it's free." Better yet, text them so you have it in writing. They really can't argue with you because its exactly what the manual says. If they say otherwise I would find another dealer or talk to the manager.

I’m at 5000 miles but over 19 months ownership time so likely not free I’m guessing…

Not with that attitude. Most dealerships will give it to you for free even well beyond their timeframe but you have to act like you expect it.

To add my 5 cents, I just got my second complimentary oil change of 5W-30, the first at 6 months, the second almost 12 months. I only have about 3500 miles on the car. I am going to stick with 6 month oil changes to keep the warranty intact, especially since my dealer provides a lifetime powertrain warranty requiring Lexus specified maintenance(although not necessarily at a Lexus dealer).

My dealership did a 500 mile break in oil change and then 5k/6 month service for free. Since then I have done my own oil changes.

This is a thread about the IS 500, for RX questions I would recommend posting in the model specific forums... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...3-present-320/

However, I would say you could just call the dealership and confirm. I would be surprised if they didn't cover the cost for you.

It wasn’t free, but I was able to use a coupon for $99.95 for full synthetic oil change and multi point inspection so all good!

You got genuinely ripped off.

I got a 15k mile full synthetic oil change from the dealership for $20 in January from a holiday promotion they texted me. My 5k and 10k oil changes were free. That’s how you do it.

I wouldn't call $99 a rip off, it's just $20 is such a good price they're losing money.

Did they put in the standard full synthetic 0W20 for that price?
