Lexus is500 ultimate edition
I'm thinking there are some hidden settings that the dealership can turn off. But no idea of this is one of them.
I'm a little surprised you can't lock down the steering wheel. I have had RXs, GSs, and now an LX 600. All movement, seats and steering wheel can be disabled.

Wthrman.... You know I love you..... and my personal bias aside of loving the steering wheel retracting despite being a slim, young, agile guy.... if you pass on the entire car over that simple of a feature, then all that tells me is that you don't love the car. No car is ever 100% perfect, and we all wish a car had or didn't have something, but at the end of the day we all compromise on something since we don't have our own car companies. Same goes for women, houses, jobs, etc. So in my personal opinion, and I say this with love, this almost feels like you're looking for a reason to pass on the car... and well.... you found it. I urge you to rethink it because that feature doesn't get in the way of anything and if anything gets everything OUT of the way. You might end up loving it later on.

UPDATE: to ALL that could be curious, the auto retract feature for the steering column CAN and HAS been disabled via the tech and techstream

Great! Now let’s discuss the wheels. I think they are bad and you won’t love them, so you can rest easy knowing I will buy them from you. 😆
Does the UE come with Potenzas or PS4s?
I swung by my local dealership today and asked what it would cost to trade in my 5k miles 2024 USB for a 2025 UE.
According to their odd math it's $18k taxes included… but based on the appraisal it should be around $15k with taxes. That's still a lot. The trade in value is not as great as I was expecting, I think they were lowballing me a bit.
Not really a fan of the red interior accents, but I do love alcantara/suede. Not sure about the new paint. Just trying to figure out if this swap is actually worth it. I'm torn right now, it might just be FOMO.
wthrman2, I blame you for this lol. Btw, you posted some pictures of the UE recently, but can't seem to find them?!

mhh500 - The pics are on Page 34 of this thread. I can't recall, are you in the US or in Canada? Trade in values will vary alot not just based on age and condition of your car but also the market you live in. If you live in a bigger city and/or somewhere in which the weather is nice pretty year round, then you will likely get a better offer because they know they will not hold this car on their lot as long. In my case, smaller market, almost before winter in Canada, the dealer factored that there is a possibility mine might not sell until the spring.
Best advice I can give you is go in with a price that you are willing to accept for your trade and see if they can match it...If not, then you can decide whether it's worth going ahead or not. In my case, the original offer was lower than what I was hoping, I counter offered and they took it. For me, cars are a passion and I am not taking my money when I am gone so I wanted this car so I am taking it (came close to walk away because of my OCD but that crisis has been averted). Don't compare what one is getting versus another, that game will drive you insane. I got what I wanted and that is all that matters and if others get better than what you got, don't lose sleep over it as long as you are happy with the purchase. That is always my motto in life.
With respect to teh red, I found the red to be less bright than the circuit red on my current IS 500 despite also being called circuit red. I am not sure if they changed the hue a bit or the fact there is more black, it blends in a bit better and I feel looks more like the Rioja red (not exactly, but more in that shade of red). With the exterior paint, it will change based on the lighting - In the showroom, it looked differently than outside in the bright sun. I liked it the most outside where the metallic was more visible. This car is a stunner and pics don't do it justice, I almost didn't go see it because the pics were leaving me lukewarm and didn't want to drive 4h only to be disappointed but I am glad I went.
If you have more questions, feel free to PM me or call - Good luck with your decision

Yeah, I wish they would have offered all seasons for the Canadian market as it does limit the car in the shoulder seasons - I will get the Michel Pilot Sport (all season) after 2 or 3 summers as I hate throwing out perfectly new tires.
Thanks, both of you! Really appreciate it.
wthrman2, I'm in the US, the great state of TN (haha). I don't see much snow here, if any.
They were going by the KBB value and didn't budge much when I asked, maybe $1k more for the trade in, but that's about it.

I'm in the same boat. My current 18" winter setup mostly won't fit on the UE so I'll probably end up putting winter tires on the OEM wheels and keep my summer setup, assuming they will fit, which I hope!

Folks, you can always go to your local America's Tire store (or Canadian equivalent) and they will prorate your newish stock tires for whatever other new tires you decide to get. I did this a few years ago and got a pretty hefty credit/discount on the new tires.
