So I am pleased to let all you enthusiasts know that the IS500 will be produced for at least one more year. I did my weekly search on TIS for 2024 models by tricking the website to let me search for 2024MYs and this week I actually got a hit for the 2024 IS500. Last week it told me that nothing was found for all 2024 IS', but this week it shows a Emergency Response Guide assigned to the 2024 IS300, IS350, and IS500. I suspect we are a couple of weeks away before I'll be able to grab the owner's manuals for the car, but this is a sign that the good old 2UR lives on for at least one more year. I'll update this thread once I eventually get the owner's manuals or any additional info.

 

Since 2024 will probably we the last year of the IS500 it would be cool if Lexus makes a numbered car "Final Edition" but a different color than nardo grey.

 

They don't have the foresight to be able to do that.

 

Copper Crest? Flare Yellow? Cadmium? Nori? Surely they will offer some quirky send off...

 

I’d go for copper crest for sure, but beating a dead horse here in wishing they’d do a nori green IS.

And you make a good point … it’ll be a quirky color before it’ll be a color most of us could actually live with long term.

 

So TT, is it safe to assume we will know if the IS 500 got the tech upgrades for 2024 when you are able to access the owner's manual? Thanks!

Also, why do y'all think 2024 is/might be the last year of production? Since they just introduced the IS500 to Japan maybe it makes sense to have it run until 2026.

 

The IS series is due to be replaced with a new generation in 2025 if what they say is true. Frankly I don't care anymore. I got mine and I'm happy. Let them do Barney purple or their new obnoxious touchscreen tech on the NX, etc. and ruin the interior, I don't care.

 

It'll probably run for several more years without a big refresh. That's how Lexus is. The wait and anticipation. It's part of what makes Lexus news exciting and keeps guys like Kirk Krifels in business. Sooo unlike Hyundai/KIA/Honda cars, that look different every single year and I can't keep up which ones are old and which are new.

 

Three generations in 25 years and counting. That's gotta be some kind of record.

As soon as I can pull the manuals we will know with certainty if they switched it to the new interface system. Personally I think they will make the change because the IS and RC are now the only models without the new infotainment system. As far as production time, I for one see it running through 2025 at the minimum if demand keeps up as high as it is.

Hey hey, I for one would be all over a Barney Purple IS500 if it happened. I’m a sucker for Twilight Purple from BMW.

 

If they’re smart they’ll do Grimace Purple.

Yes my money is on Black Amethyst if just a solid color. Nori Green a close 2nd. If they’re doing some sort of Carbon Fiber Edition then I’d say the yellow color.
