Front Apron Separation?
Dropped of my car with the Lexus approved body shop yesterday, which is owned by the same parent company as the dealer. I'm not too hopeful on a fix. The service advisor I was working with at the dealer no longer works there, and the dealer never coordinated with the body shop on the drop off. So nobody knew what was going on.
I get that there may be hiccups with the first model year, but not having coordination between the dealer's service department and the body shop they farm-out warranty body work to is unacceptable. It makes for a horrible customer experience when you show up at the body shop for something that is going to be covered by warranty and they ask you how you are going to pay for it.
My guess is this going to be like the exhaust gaskets, but way worse because there is probably not going to be systematic approach to fixing the separation.
As of now, I am thoroughly unimpressed with Lexus as a brand.

Hi Guys, I thought I was being paranoid after reading this thread but I think my car is in the very early stages of this apron separation as well. Driver's side pictured above. I am not being crazy right?

Thank you!

^^ Nope, you are not crazy and that is what many people have experienced. Mine has a small gap compared to many but it certainly is there for sure. I have reported the issue to the dealer and they'll open a ticket with Lexus when I go for my next service as I live about 1h away, I don't want to drive there just for that. Where mine is minor, I don't want them to play with it unless it gets worse or that they have found an actual fix.

^^ sorry Macmaster but you do have it - Yours is small compared to some but that is the issue that we have - If you compare the driver side with the passenger side, you will see a difference. Obviously yours is minor and hoping won't get worse and that is the question I have, will these get worse and worse or what we have is as bad as it will get, or it will get worse and worse with time....No one really knows. Mine has not gotten worse since I first noticed it so it's also constant however, it is different from the driver to the passenger side for sure.
I guess we have different definitions then. Even though the passenger side looks different, I would consider this within tolerance. It passes the pen test and hasn’t gotten worse, what else can I ask for?
^^ I agree hence why I won't be asking the dealer to do anything for mine except document it in case it gets worse down the road. I am just hoping it won't get worse, for some, the gap has widened with time (maybe related to being riding hard - or the extreme heat)
This thread, and my monthly photos, are my insurance lol.
Yup, that's why I am taking mine into the dealership to have on record that this has been an issue. Juuuust in case we have to pursue this with a lawyer and we need documentation. I would suggest everyone who has this issue to bring into their dealerships so that you have a paper trail.
