Default Remote Start & Locking

Does anyone have solid information when the update/fix for the remote start to remain on when entering? This is my pet peeve.

My sisters BMW auto locks/unlocks when she walks away or approaches. I'm not finding anything, so asking if we have this configuration. Grabbing the door handle seems to work "ok" but haven't found anything for departure, other than touching the handle for a few seconds in the one spot.

Having the car stay on when entering after a remote start is not possible without aftermarket changes as far as I know. There are lots of threads on this topic in the 3IS forums.

The BMW unlock/lock on approach/leaving is a thing on my wife's car, too, but I have never seen such a feature on a Lexus.

I had read somewhere they were going to push out an update so it remained running.

My C7 did this and I loved it. The sole reason I do not use lexus remote start is because the cars turn off. Super annoying.

I wonder what their rationale is for the car turning off. I can't imagine a single reason why anyone would want that

No kidding, it kind of makes the remote start feature silly.

I was told it is to prevent car theft. Doesn't make sense to me because it has to be locked to start.

that sounds super dumb, they could just disable the car from going into gear if the key isn't in the ignition as one example instead of shutting the car off

Makes no sense at all because now dummies like me will hop in the car to let it warm up (lots of oil takes lots of time), then leave it to do that while I go do other things... and you cannot lock the car from the outside while it is running. It is just a recipe for disaster if it A cannot be locked while it is running from the outside, or B needs to turn off when the door is opened. My Q60 would need the key to get the car into gear but would not turn off when the door was opened. I really do hope they can fix this but I heard that it was a handoff issue in Toyota/Lexus hardware.... Unsure how they can fix it retroactively over the air if that is the case

Toyota's function the same way

Like I mentioned when I started the thread, I read from a very reliable source (can't remember) that Toyota is currently rolling out the update that will resolve this issue. So, maybe just some patience? If anyone gets the update, please let us know!
