Lexus is500 ultimate edition
^^ That looks amazing!! I am happy that it worked and my solution to deal with the hump except I am not spending 1000$ Cdn - I bought a piece of hardboard (1/8 inch thick) that will cut/shaped after the original being traced on it, then will cover with the carpeted trunk mat that came with our cars (not sure if they come with US cars) and that will be good enough for me.
Good question... I didn't add any weight on top of the now empty spare vacant space. I should have. But it does seem pretty solid. And you gain cargo space!
But with substantial weight, I could see adding a filler piece to support it. But honestly, I think this is the way to go for me. I would flat bed with Lexus on any issue with the tires since I have the tire and rim protection plan which comes with towing.
That spare wheel and tire is quite heavy!

^^ I will drill a piece of 2x4 to tje hardboard to fill the cavity space just in case for extra rigidity. My board will be covered by the carpet and not seen anyway. I too want to have a clean trunk space. Rarely will my spare will be in the car and when it will, it will lay flat on the trunk floor
Now I'm wondering if the pre-UE spare (with the yellow paint) would fit in here nicely. I would expect the yellow spare would cover a flat for the rear tires with the smaller brakes, no?
Better than no spare and it fills the space for support.
Am I missing anything?

It would clear the rear calipers but the problem is on the front. Given then cost of the yellow rim/spare to only cover the 2 rear wheels is not ideal either.

And I don't mind throwing a few hundred bucks into a $71K car. Chances are, I'm flat bedding it anyway.
^^^ I agree, we all have to make a decision on how best handle the trunk/spare situation. For me, I will drive without the spare 95% of the time given my driving circuit and such. I still would have preferred finding an OEM trunk cover like you were able to find. If I could find one in a junk yard, I would buy one or if someone wants to meet me at the border, please let me know (lol). I think when I am done with what I have in mind, I think it will do the trick. I will post pics when I am done but won't touch it until the spring as the car is in the garage sleeping peacefully

^^ I am not sure I am following - This is the spare that comes with all regular IS 500 but this wouldn't work with the UE because of the larger calipers hence why we have one of the wheels that came on the RC F since we get the same size brakes as that one. With the RC F, that rim was black but in the IS 500, it came a painted silver with a full size tire, albeith a slightly smaller size
Yes that's correct. I'm waiting for their next sale before ordering as I'm not going on any road trips in the near future.
