Thinking about upping the noise just a little bit but I don't want any drone. For those just running the resonated mid-pipe, how do you like it?
Rookie
I have the resonated mid from Apexi and it is good if you want to up the noise. But one thing leads to another and now I want more noise and the only thing worth upgrading to is Novel. But it’s very expensive 😬

Just resonated midpipe with oem axle back sounds great. No drone whatsoever. I got the bug, so I have an axle back on order to pair with the apexi
highly recc reading the giant aftermarket exhaust thread to get more info on different setups

All above are true. Ran the Apexi Resonated Midpipe for over a year. Only added an axle back after wife said she’d be fine if it was even louder. Both setups have their pros & cons, and both are infinitely better than the OEM setup.
Regardless definitely start with the resonated midpipe. You can always add an axle back later on if you want more noise.

same here, I got the resonated mid-pipe for a couple months and then I wanted more noise, went to get an axel-back now is too much noise lol... now I am saving up for valve axel-back
I don't want the car too loud as sometimes I leave for work early in the morning and don't want to disturb the family/neighbors but a little noise would be nice. I don't see myself getting an axleback and would love a valved exhaust but don't really want to spend the money on that.

Resonated midpipe is definitely step #1 then. No drone and in no way will wake up neighbors on those early mornings. My kids’ bedrooms both shares a wall with the garage and starting it up ~7 feet from their lil sleeping head didn’t wake either up once when I was running just the midpipe. But running just the midpipe adds a much needed deep growl and nicely livens things up. Just doesn’t add the maniacal roar that pairing with an axle back achieves. Originally Posted by InveredMP

If you plan on keeping the stock axle back, people add the non-resonated midpipe, if you want to add an axle back than resonated.
We have both coming in next month, we can help you pick the right one.

Thanks, Josh. I am definitely leaning towards resonated. I am interested so keep me posted. Originally Posted by Meraki Autoworks

I find myself wanting more noise sometimes when driving around town. Still gets plenty loud when I hit over 4500k RPM. I was considering switching to the non-resonated midpipe but I heard there is a raspy tone and want to hear it in person before I make a decision.
Also considering the valved GTHaust exhaust as well.

I am right there with you. I have poured over every post and video on this topic and am still left wondering if I can go with the non-resonated midipipe as I envision also adding a valved axleback. I hear the common guidelines about going resonated if you add an axleback but cannot recall seeing people expressly say that they regret going non-resonated along with their axleback. I am in NJ and not sure if I can find someone who would have such a setup for me to hear. I have only even seen 2 or 3 of these cars in my state.Originally Posted by Phresh2010

I guess I may have to pull the trigger on non-resonated without hearing in person, or perhaps whatever doubt I have will get the better of me and I will go resonated based on comments I have seen.

The non-resonated is just a tiny bit louder than the resonated midpipe, maybe 1-2 dB. So the real decision comes down to personal sound preference.
The lack of resonators adds a metallic tingy sound to the exhaust note. Some people like that sound or don’t mind it, some people (myself included) can’t stand it. It’s really only noticeable under hard acceleration or when revving the engine, but for me that’s when you want to hear the full glory of our V8 free from subnotes of rapid metallic clanging.

Yes non resonated will be a little more raspy, can't really tell too much on a stock axle back though.
We recommend non resonated with the stock axle back. Resonated with aftermarket axle back. If you want loud, then get non-resonated with an aftermarket axle back.
Or a full GTHAUS setup, we do that as well.
For anyone interested in either, dealers for Apexi, GTHAUS, Borla, Revel, etc..

I've been debating whether I want to go for just an axle-back or just a mid-pipe for a while now. I want to hear the car more but not to wake my neighbors.
