For anyone still reading this thread that at one point had the resonated midpipe with the stock axle back, does the noise increase at all in the front part of the cabin or under the floor? Or is it all out the back? This seems like a dumb question probably, I assume its all out the back and there are the induction noises but I've never changed a Mid-pipe before, only axle back.
My biggest fear with exhaust mods on this car is that I don't want to really hear the exhaust every time I adjust the accelerator. Really loud setups where you hear every slight acceleration as you cruise or commute on the highway is not my thing. I mostly want to hear it when I stomp on the gas
. It seems adaptive valved exhausts would be the best solution but I don't really see any sub $5k options that have the sound I want.

i know you already made up your mind but adding my two cents for anyone else reading this thread.
Put me in the category of while i like the Apexi resonated mid-pipe i do wish it was slightly louder. my car now really sounds like it should have from the factory and isn't over the top or anything. 99% of the american public wouldn't even know my exhaust has been modified. It does sounds great over cold start and over 3,500 rpm with the intake opens. It is great as my daily driver and I'm sure everyone wants a little bit louder until they don't.
I don't plan on changing my exhaust further, def going to keep it. However if i were to do it again knowing what i know now i would prob consider the borla axle back in black. i just really wanted to maintain the stock look so i went with the Apexi resonated mid-pipe.

I was fortunate to drive a used IS500 last year and it had a resonated Apexi mid-pipe. The previous owner also had an axle-back, but he removed it and put the stock exhaust back on before trading the car in. Anyway... the point is that I loved how the car sounded. Cruising at street or highway speeds, the car wasn't overbearing or obnoxious at all. The average person probably would've thought the car was stock. But the mid-pipe added just the right amount of noise under hard acceleration. If I ever get an IS500, getting a mid-pipe is definitely the route I'd go. Just my 2 cents.
edit: I also did some downshifts in Sport+ mode when coming off the highway and the sound had me grinning like an idiot. Huge, stupid smile on my face with every downshift.

Any anecdotes of success with just an axle back? I watched about 500 videos of every exhaust and combination for the F products (and our "F-sport" product). I don't want the droning 2000-4000 rpm some reviewers lamented on certain combos, but damn do I wish the exhaust matched the induction when you hammer it like an LC500

Sounds good. My guess is it’s a fair bit louder but sounds great.
I worry about early morning cold starts, otherwise as long as it isn’t obnoxious I’m going to go the same direction..
QUOTE=Jakexus;11888479]Sure thing. I must admit that I pulled the trigger on the Revel axleback to go along with it. From researching, it seems this combo is a relatively safe bet to avoid noticeable drone and does not make things too loud.[/QUOTE]

I think alike and am hopeful that this setup won't **** off the neighbors for the days of the week I have to leave early. I will be the guinea pig for you lol.
