Local temps over the past few days have been in the 40-45 range and (to me, at least) the exhaust sounds a bit more throaty now that the intake is gulping down colder, denser air. Even under the magic 2800 RPMs it has a slight growl that hints at a V8 about to wake up from sleep. Or, maybe I am just getting on the gas more often and it is all in my head.
The stock tires are not so happy with the cold, but the engine and exhaust are lovin' it.
Yeah I notice the exhaust sound a lot more when it's cold out, partly because I'm not blasting the A/C, and partly because of what you wrote.
Even my Contis don't like anything under about 45 degrees, let alone the stockies. When it's warm out, I can pull out onto a street giving it the beans through first gear, but now, it slips even on the shift into second. Yikes!
While I live in FL and it’s by no means cold by most standards, we’ve had a few evenings in the 40s lately.
Anyway, I was leaving work and where I park the car there was a guy that I see sometimes getting out of his really well kept C5 vette. He was across the aisle from me and I was backed in. When I started it, for likely reasons of the cold and my Revel axle back, it was thunderously loud for a few seconds. That guy looked at me with the biggest WTF on his face I think I’ve ever seen.
