I know there are only 150 of these to be sold in North America and not sure how many have been sold so far but I thought I'd start a thread specifically for this special color. I'll start by saying when I first saw this on the showroom floor I thought it was spectacular and made a deal to buy it right then and there. I do get a lot of positive comments on the color which is nice but what I should have thought about is that it is a very stand out color making the car not very stealthy driving down the street. My point is I like to be below the radar and this definitely does not meet that criteria but I must admit the compliments I get puts a smile on my face. My only other comment is that while it is nice to see $100,000 plus supercars with pretty much the same color it is not so nice to see Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas with what looks like the same color. Any thoughts?

That's one of the nicest shots of a Blue Vector that I've seen, it's beautiful! I'd say that although the color may seem the same as other "lesser" cars, the curves, angles, stance and engine of the IS 500 is what truly makes it special.
After a conversation with them, it appears as though the dealer's General Manager wanted to keep the car for his son. Originally they were "asking" 79k for the car a few weeks ago. I believe what happened was what a lot of Toyota and Lexus dealers have been doing for ages, keeping special edition and special color versions for themselves and deliberately inflating the price of them.
The shameful thing is that this car hasn't had an oil change in the past 19 months, the engine hasn't been broken in, the rods, crankshaft, and camshafts have been slowly rusting out during that time.
Lexus USA is also stupid for specifying only 150 units in this color.
Of the 150 a good amount of them went directly to the press only to be retired by crushing due to being preproduction models with non-production parts such as interiors, sent to Lexus Museums, sent back to Japan for analysis post press, a shockingly few amount actually end up being sold to retailers through auction sites.
Now, of the 244 Lexus dealerships in the USA, 27 in Canada, and another 5 in Mexico, we have dealership GMs who get an allocation and keep the car for their kid or resale. I'm expecting 100 to actually made it to a dealership, with 20-30 snatched up by non-dealership or auto-industry affilated owners.
Of the 70, probably at least 20 have been destroyed due to crashes.
The realistic number today is probably ~50 or less actually own a Blue Vector.

So if you see one, count yourself lucky!
Interesting analysis and if your aussupmtions are correct a rare car with a very rare special color will definitly be a classic if not one already! FYI, I've seen a 2025 special color yellow at a car show in AZ and I'm not a fan.

You think almost 30% have already been written off in crashes?? That's pretty high lol
Not sure I understand this. So you're thinking roughly 100 of these have been destroyed? Do you have any data to back that up or is that just an estimate. I'm just asking because I'm in the process of buying one with only 2500 miles on it. I knew they were rare, but this would be on a whole different level.
sorry no pics yet. Haven't actually picked it up yet

Agree with what you're saying about seeing Civics and Corollas the same color. Makes mine feel a little less special

I occasionally think that, but other Toyota models that share this paint code aside, not too many others match to me. Ford's grabber blue, Chevy's rapid blue, and a blue I saw a few days ago on some AMG Mercedes (hyper blue?), are close ones I've seen. In sun, I think our color stands out a bit more than the comparables, but I acknowledge I am biased!

I don’t think you’re too biased. Lexus’ paint work is widely known to have that special umph compared to others. Volvo and Acura are the closest I’ve seen to my USB, but it’s about style as well. In most instances, our styling is more interesting (better), so we’ll showcase the color the best.
