It makes complete sense for spirited driving, but not during normal driving with the occasional pull (just my opinion). I think it would be cool to be able to switch it around to have the oil temp bigger in Sport and S+, and smaller in Normal and... cough cough... Eco. But since we don't have oil coolers I can at least appreciate what they were going for.

GS F and RC F gauge clusters do that, they have all of them with same demarcation, plus it has the speedometer in analog. I like both of the designs, this one on the IS 500 is LFA inspired one, which is fitted to current ES line too and older IS. And it has Sport S / S+ style variance while the RC F / GS F one has same for both modes. And one thing is IS 500 has max speed cap of 150Mph while rest of the 2UR cars have higher limits (170mph+) from IS F to LC 500.

In the F cars, you can customize the look of Sport S and S+. There are two different Sport looks - one with a needle with a white border for the gauge and one with a yellow bar. Most of the time, the needle is assigned to Sport S, and the yellow bar is S+. So, most cars I've seen have different looks for each mode, unless, of course, the driver has customized it.
