Apexi IS500 non-resonated midpipe install
Before & after clip here. This is Apexi’s resonated version so should be a hair quieter than the non-resonated version.

Let me see what I can do. I did have a 2nd video of driving with GoPro hooked up just above the exhaust outlet but the camera mount fell off about 1/2 way through the drive … luckily had security rope tied to the mount & camera but second half of video is just a camera swinging around with a glorious V8 wailing away in the background.
I’m so torn here. I’m sure a resonated setup is fine, but the extra growl is music to my soul. But, I feel like non resonated is just a fun night out while resonated is the one you take home to mom. Resonated is Tim Toolman Taylor (insert manly grunt) but resonated is Wilson next door…
Heckuva dilemma to have LOL. Oh well.

Haha yeah it’s quite the dilemma. I think everyone agrees the OEM setup is entirely too quiet. Would have loved to see a valved option from the factory when in sport mode (see BMW, Supra, etc)
While I absolutely love the sound of a complete exhaust system including headers, and personally find it glorious, I feel a little bad for everyone on my block when I cold-start before sunrise.

For background, it’s a 2 decibel difference between resonated and non-resonated midpipes.
So unless both versions are side by side and you’re standing equidistant from each with a trained ear, you wouldn’t really ever know there is a decibel difference between the two.
But you can definitely tell the difference based on how raspy (mechanical tinniness quality) the exhaust noise is at higher revs and that’s the real choice between the two. That, and some people might want to minimize the chance of extra drone.

I know this is kind of random but I hope some day someone (*ahem*.. Maybe Yamaha *ahem*.. TOM’s *ahem* TRD?) reads this forum and comes up with even length headers for this engine so that the exhaust note at least kind of sounds like the LFA. I think the exhaust would have to be non-resonated though.
