Catalytic converter cleaner
Was going to buy
liqui moly catalytic converter cleaner to use on my 6-yr old 2016 IS200t and it needs to be hooked up to the vacuum intake manifold. I have no idea where this is located, can anyone help with where to hook this up? With a photo if possible? Yeah, I'm that noob... thank you.
Why do you need to do this? I’ve never cleaned my catalytic converters on any car I’ve ever owned. Why would you want to go through this process and potentially mess something up (especially if you’re a noob)?
It is something I hope to be equipped to know just in case the day comes I need to do it. For the moment, there are no codes thrown that is related to the CAT or emissions, was just browsing and saw that this might be something useful in the future as I plan to keep the car for a few more years and maybe this could be a good preventative measure.
Well, it is a ‘thing’. A sticky injector can cause too much fuel to be dumped into a cylinder, and unburned fuel will clog a cat. But you should get a code for cat problems and notice reduced hp, that’s when you consider a cat cleaner.

Thought I would comment on this topic. From my understanding, we have a pipe that comes from the motor to the catalytic converter supplying coolant from the engine to this valve we have in our converters. This is how heat is distributed to our heaters. Once this valve begins to leak, as they all do overtime, coolant begins to burn out of the exhaust. When this happens, our coolant levels begin to drop which causes the engine to overheat. That’s why it’s always extremely important for us to keep track of our coolant levels at all times. I would not mess with the catalytic converters like that in anyway. That’s just me.
