I have problem with driver side mirror on my IS mk3 - Sometime ago mirror control stops working - I'm unable to adjust it, and also when I switch to reverse gear it won't tilt.

Then I use compressed air putting tube inside mirror cover and after few blows it starts to works again.

After one year, yestarday it stops working again - sometimes it works for 1-2 seconds and then stops working at all.

I try to use compressed air again, but won't help this time. My first idea is that engine of tilt mechanism is dead - but sometimes it works for a moment and other functions like folding mirrors works fine. Also I have check fuses and seems to be fine.

Should I replace whole mirror? Or can I replace only tilt engine? My dealership wants ~700 USD to replace whole mirror. I have found used mirror which have blind spot and was heated but sellers is not sure if it supports settings memory which I have in my car.

U.S. Lexus IS doesn't come with tilt mirror w/ reverse, probably why no one responded. Sorry to hear you are dealing with that

It is available. As to why you may be dealing with that, I hate to ask the obvious but make sure that the mirror controls are set to either control the left or right mirror. If no mirror is selected it won't tilt. If you are doing that, then perhaps the motor that controls the movement is going bad.

 

What year is your IS? I'm pretty sure the 3IS (2014-2021) didn't in the U.S. but other countries had this option, since there was someone who was trying to retrofit this option into their car a few years back.

 

I have a 2022. For 2022 and 2023 it is a part of the memory package

Yeah it was not offered on any US-market IS before 2022 as far as I know.

Hopefully someone who has one and ideally, experienced the issue, can chime in.

edit: Actually, seems like some 2014 model year cars had this. I do seem to remember a lot of discussion on ways to retrofit this to other model year cars, which made me assume it was not available. Alas.

 

Uh? Pretty sure my 2014 IS350 (non F) has it, as the driver’s side mirror shifts when I shift into reverse. Never found it of much use though, as I’m not using that mirror when backing up (other than making sure I don’t snag the dang thing on the edge of the garage).

 

did you fix it?

my left mirror side is working 2/3 s and stop and the right is sometimes full in the mess ( electric engine continue to run but no more angle to do ) when i go back and go help me to not crash my wheels

My driver side mirror won’t move left or right. Has been that way for years. Been too lazy to try to fix it. 2018 model year.

 

In europe we have lexus relax warranty during 10 years include this type of issue.
