3IS vs 4IS
IMO the 2021 was the best-looking version of the 3IS yet when it came out. So there's that. It's barely recognizable as a 3IS at this point. I get a lot more compliments on this car. People really seem to like the dark-chrome wheels on the IS 350 F Sport as well.
The biggest upgrades are actually on the interior though. There is a new 10.3-inch screen available, which looks very sharp and is a touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available on an IS for the first time. Also, the interior layout was somewhat changed, as we now have the track-pad-style controller instead of the joystick-style controller for the infotainment. Finally, the cupholders were moved, and the center armrest is totally new.
Lexus also changed some things with the suspension, replacing some steel parts with aluminum. This saves unsprung weight. They also retuned the suspension. I'd say my 2021 rides a bit smoother than my 2016, though it is still a sport sedan and lets some smaller bumps into the cabin.
Overall, you are getting a similar experience to other 3ISes, just polished a lot more. The looks are the most obvious difference, but outside of that, the upgrades are still very nice. The price difference is pretty large, however.

2015 era rear end is still my favorite though...
The tail lights on my 2014 are what sold me on the IS, that beautiful down angle from light tip, matching the up angle from the rocker through the body, was well done. Too bad they threw it away on the recent models.
Then for 2021+ i think it was largely bushing tuning.
