Far as I can tell that has a lower end Sony image sensor so don't expect great video quality. Good enough to prove fault in an accident, resolving license plate numbers will be iffy. You're paying for the integration more than the camera itself, still probably fine for most people.
On license plate numbers even the best dashcams struggle with this.
Cobra Dash HD. It's plug and play, and great quality and customer support. You'll want to get a USB power extension cord, as you want to tuck the wire around the headliner and run it under the passenger seat into the center console. Don't run it along the A-pillar, as this is where the curtain airbag lives.

Interesting. How does it look? I wanted a plug and play cam on my IS. Mind if you show me how you have it set up?
I use a Fitcam on my 2021 ES. 100% integrated, 100% stock looking, 100% plug and play. comes w/ a stock-like housing that covers all the stock sensors/cameras etc. i love it. If they make one for the IS, snag it.
^ Nice. And I always get confused about how to "hide" those cables from the dashcam. Which is why I've never bought a cam. I've seen people on youtube connect it to the rearview mirror.

That's how I hooked mine up, I found a really cool adapter that adds a usb port to the the rearview mirror connector, it's all hidden inside the review mirror housing
Edit: I just noticed your signature and you have a 2021 IS, I am unsure if the connector in the 2021 is also the same style 10 pin connector, likely it is, but to be sure you could easily check by popping off the plastic housing behind your rearview mirror and checking the connector.

This is what I was going to ask. I'm guessing the pin has to be the same? I'll check later today. But awesome, this is what I was looking for. Hopefully, the pin hasn't changed.

Please let us know what you find out, just for future reference so I know what to or not to recommend for 2021 owners going forward. Posting a picture of your connector would be nice too if it's not too much trouble.
I'm betting it is the same, don't see why they would bother changing it, but I could be wrong. The good news is this same maker/seller sells many different variations (5 pin, 10 pin, 12 pin, ect) so if your connector is different, there may still be an option for you
I’m using the Whistler MFU440 radar detector and dash cam combo unit with 110% satisfactory! It’s mounted and hardwired to my rear view mirror. It has 1080p dash cam that can be upgraded to a 60Gig storage mini SD. High recommend if you don’t want to shell out for a Cobra Scout

Question. Did you have to remove the housing on your rearview mirror? Or it is just unplugging the cable behind the mirror? I can't seem to find any videos, not even in the older IS models. I honestly haven't had time. But will check it out.
