Default odd 2020 IS350 maintenance schedule...what?

So I was under the impression I'd have 10k miles between oil changes. However the Lexus site says I am to go in every 5k miles. The "5's" however are only inspections and no oil change. I've never heard of required or scheduled maintenance that does not include an oil change. So what have people done here? I want a perfect record of service for my car's resale history, but the 5k inspections without an oil change are a total waste of money while the car is still relatively new. What have other's done for the non-oil change visits? I know you can reset the maintenance thing manually, but that's going to show up as missed maintenance if someone researches it. Thoughts?

I did take mine in for non oil change service visits, but stopped recently as it didn’t make sense to pay the amount they were asking for a lot of inspection-only tasks. I replace my own cabin air filters, vehicle air filters, fob batteries, wiper blades and so on. There is no need to pay a Lexus dealer hundreds of dollars for that.

You can always keep your own receipts in order to show you’ve kept up with required maintenance.

It won't hurt any resale value if you miss an inspection. Just check the fluid levels and wiper blades yourself. And make sure floor mats are secure...

I went in one time to have it done years ago. The advisor came in the waiting room after me being in there for 5 minutes and said I'm good to go. He said he checked the fluids himself and to save the 100 bucks.

They're like that with everything. Inspection, inspection. Inspect your floor mats, lights, fluids, I think air filters fall into the 5's somewhere too. Not bad stuff, but not much either.

Just opinions...paying a dealer to do your service will cost far more than it will ever add to any resale value or appeal to a future buyer. It's "nice to have" but that's about it. Most people won't ever care (they'll just ask because Google told them too).

I get the appeal with the dealer though, Certainly has It's other benefits. And I treat my cars like they're $200k+ cars too in some ways too. Just realize the guy who took his IS to a Gas station Mechanic or serviced himself will likely sell just as easily.

Yeah the non-oil-change visits are literally an inspection and maybe topping off fluids if needed. Nothing you couldn't do in your own garage if you wanted.

On the other hand, my Lexus dealer changed my oil every 5k, and it cost me nothing.

Thank you all for the information and comments. I have never heard of required maintenance only being inspections and no oil change, so I had to ask. I'll take care of the rest myself and save.
Thanks again.

Hi Everyone, Is there a complete service maintenance schedule somewhere that includes service intervals and items need to be changed?
e.g.: plug service intervals, belt and tensioner (8AR engine), timing chain, brake disc and pad wear limits, filters etc.

How else would they pay for all that "free" food/drinks in the lobby while you're waiting for service?

Thanks man, great info!
The only thing I'm missing is the wear limit of the brake discs/pads. The document mentions only visual inspection without any specifics.

That mentality is a scam.

Based on my experience, I agree with you, though, let's make sure we stay on-topic of discussing the proper care and feeding of the 3IS. Thanks.
