Default Driving Modes

Just purchased a 2015 IS 250, The driving mode select switch will allow me to show EDO mode or Sport Mode. I cannot get it to operate in the Normal mode. I have followed all of the steps in the Users Manual. When in ECO or Sports mode and I press the switch the mode will not change. It is allmost like I do not have a Normal mode. What am I missing? Thanks

Press straight down on the Drive Mode **** for Normal. ECO and Sport show a banner when activated, Normal is... well, normal, no lights
Sport changes the shift points and throttle response, always defaults back to Normal after a car restart.
ECO changes the A/C, cruise control, throttle response and shift points. Will stay in ECO until your lease matures! Must be deactivated by pressing
down for Normal or twisting Clockwise for Sport.
Throttle response mapping is for mid-throttle, if you gotta scoot just jam the throttle pedal for Wide Open Throttle, no need to change any settings.

^ to add to that: Even when in normal mode, the eco icon will appear when you're driving is being "economical". Seeing the eco icon pop up when in normal might be confusing you as well.

Pressing down the circular button should do it, if that doesn't work. Put your car in Sport mode, turn it off, and it'll start back up in Normal mode

I found that Eco light to be annoying and turned it off in settings.

The Drive Mode ECO is Active, you Act to twist the **** and the car Acts differently.
A/C is reduced, throttle and shift points, all that use fuel use less.

The ECO light and "earth globe graphic on newer Lexi) is Passive.
Does not change the car, just an attempt to change you the driver.

F***’em. Don’t need some nanny watching my driving, just makes me want to drive the car harder to keep the light off!
Controlled my blood pressure by turning it off in settings.

VW and no doubt others received EPA rating credit for including the passive ECO light as
standard equipment. When the test was conducted and the light was obeyed the MPG results
were improved and published. As they say...your mileage may vary!

Normal (auto-eco mode) when driving helps for someone who wants to save gas here and there. It's usually beneficial on long drives. I'm not bothered by it since it goes away if I press on the gas harder or switch to Sport for that matter.

Maybe one day I will turn it off completely to see if it doesn't even matter regarding gas consumption.

Not a cheapo but I also don't want to waste something for nothing.

I tried turning it off and the car seems to drive correctly now. Before I can feel that micro-adjusting/re-adjusting of the engine but now it feels the car only stays on that single mode(normal) mode which is, I admit, way better compare to when ECO is on.
Will look closely on the mpg hopefully it won't be a drastic change.

Thank you all for the replies.... I am going to explore all the responses. The only thing that concerns me is that if the car does not show normal am I getting the most out of the engine. Just took a 200 mile drive on freeways and ecco was on the entire time. It would go off if I pressed the gas to pass someone, then go on again when I backed off. Of course it did go off when I chose the Sport Mode. My mileage for the tr
ip was 29.9 MPG. The user manual does not mention the nuances that were mentioned in the responses.

Thanks for the info. I took delivery of a 2016 IS 350 F Sport yesterday and wondered why it kept going to Eco instead of normal. You really notice the difference going from Sport + to Eco!

The only thing that concerns me is that if the car does not show normal. I guess Lexus could have put a "Normal" indicator on the dash that is on all the time...constantly...in day or night driving...whenever the car is on and not in Eco or Sport mode.
Am I getting the most out of the engine. In terms of?

Why Lexus didn't use right pod area of the menu on F Sport models to do a quick pop-up to show the mode changing is beyond me. That way it wouldn't need to be shown all the time. And of course you could turn the pop-up off like other pop-ups (like the menu button pop-up when the car starts).

Red face Low Level ECO mode light in Dash

Turns out that my 2015 was going into all 3 modes. My problem was that I pressed the mode selection button I did go into Normal mode. I discovered this several weeks ago. The ECO light in the upper part of the dash would go off when it should, but it is very dim and the lighting must be perfect to see it.. Do not do much night driving. So it turns out I really did not have a problem. A bit of operator error and not reading the manual, in addition to a dim ECO light in the upper center of dash. I really enjoy driving the IS250. Turns of a dime and has great acceleration, especially in the Sport mode. Great looking car and a very shiny Blue. My wife and I say it is Midnight Blue. Sounds much berer than the official name of the color. Again, my thanks to all who responded to my "problem"
